Thursday 6:30am:
"Lacey, your birthday is coming up." I eat my apple and wait for Cole to drive me to school. "Its your big 16th." She seems like she's in a good mood this morning, lets see how long that's going to last.
"I guess," I continue with my apple. I hear Cole storming down the stairs and into the kitchen. Mom hands him a plate of food and he sits next to me at the island, and begins to devour his breakfast.
"That's all you're going to eat?" Cole gives me a worried look. I look at him, then mom, then back to him.
"Yeah," he roles his eyes and eats more of his food.
"Honey, so what do you want for your big day?" Ok she is just way to happy.
"I don't care, a new CD or something." I finish my apple and throw it away.
"That's it? Its your 16th birthday and all you want is a CD!?" she slowly raises her voice, and hears when she craps on my life. She goes on, but I tune her out and look out the window over the sink.
"Lacey, we should get going or we'll be late." Cole takes my arm and leads me out the front door. He puts our bags in the back and he leaves the drive way. We sit in silence for a while. He talks first. "Just ignore Mom she's been stressed out with a case at work."
"Okay," I stair out the window at the passing trees.
"And I'm sorry about yesterday. I forgot to tell you I had practice." I can tell that he's upset at Mom, he always is when she treats me like this."I have it today again, so take the bus home. I don't like you walking."
I role my eyes I don't like the bus. Nicole chester is on there. She is a sophomore but failed like all of her classes or something so she is in most my class. She always is trying to be my friend. I just don't want any.
"Fine." It only takes my about 15 minutes to get my house, if a take a short cut through the woods. Otherwise its like 30. We pull into the school and I pull on my black hoodie as Cole's friends start heading his way. I sneak past them into the front hall of our school. I take a deep breath and head to my looker.
I felt something or someone staring at me I turned around to see them. The Blake twins and Jenifer Meyer. Should I go confront them? The thought scars me so I shake it off.
