Day By Day

chapter 5.

My knee was bouncing up and down at a rapid pace as I looked around the apartment, everything was tidy. Good. I had spent the last half hour cleaning since I had came in from class. Kendall’s flight landed about an hour ago, I was upset that I couldn’t pick her up, Liv offered like a good friend knowing that I couldn’t miss class and we didn’t want my little sister taking a cab, they can be a little creepy at times. I was sitting with my phone on my lap, they had just called saying they were stuck in traffic, which means I will be waiting longer to see my baby girl. I had just responded to J’s recent e-mail, we- well I- decided that DJ Airhorn was a little weird and he settled for me calling him J, I still hadn’t given up trying to find out his name.

Aw that sucks! I bet she is just as excited to see you too Nix, I know I would be. I’m in Germany right now, it’s so cold here!

I smiled as I typed out my reply to him, I loved when he called me Nix, I know it’s weird because I don’t know the kid that well even though we had been talking for like over a month now? He was so funny, and sweet though. I would always wake up to random e-mails telling me something cool or weird that he had saw on his travels. I wish I had his job, he said it was amazing and he got to travel the world but it could get tiring and he had been missing his brothers and his dog -Winston- a lot lately.

“will you put your phone down and come give me a hug?” my head snapped up to see Kendall standing in front of me with a smile on her face. I didn’t waste a second on dropping my phone and running and wrapping my arms round her shoulders as she wrapped hers round my waist.

“You’ve got taller!” I exclaimed, it’s true, she was nearly taller than me. “God, you look so grown up” I sighed pulling away to look at her.

“Have you lost weight?” she asked me, also looking me up and down.

“I don’t know, don’t really pay attention to my weight” I shrugged and I saw Liv shaking her head at me.

“Olivia told me about your new boyfriend!” Kendall exclaimed as she jumped onto the couch and grabbed my iPhone.

“He is not my boyfriend! Give me my phone!” I yelled jumping on her trying to get my phone but it was no use, she kept squirming around.

“what’s his name? J? oooh is it just J or is it short for something?” she asked as I sighed and gave up glaring at my younger sister.

“I don’t know” I shrugged and I heard Liv laugh from the kitchen, she found it so amusing that I didn’t know his name.

“What do you mean you don’t know?” Kendall asked confused.

“I don’t know if that’s his name or if it’s short for anything.” I shrugged. “Anyway, it is none of your business you are too young to know about dating or boys” I laughed and grabbed my phone while she glared at me.

“Oh shut up Fee, e-mail him and tell him I demand to know his name. You could be talking to some creep for all we know. You might like him and all but he could be an old man pretending to be someone he isn’t.” she said looking at me.

“When did you get so mature? You’re only fourteen. Fuck” I laughed shaking my head.

“I grew up Pheonix, you know when you left us” she said and my head snapped to her, what?

“Kendall, really? We had this conversation when I left. I really don’t want to be going back there, this week is supposed to be fun.” I said quietly.

“I’m sorry. I’m just so jealous of you Fee, you got away from mom and now she takes it all out on me. I brought my folio with me that I made when I went to that model open day thing and she criticized every picture. Every.single.picture.” she said angry and I shook my head.

“She has no right! You’re perfect baby girl and I really hope you realise it. You’re so beautiful and soon you are going to have designers fighting over you to be wearing and showcasing their clothes” I smiled as she rested her head on my shoulder.

“I love you.” she whispered and I smiled and wrapped my arm round her and pulled her into me more. “You’re the best big sister, I look up to you so much. You know that right?” she asked and my breath hitched.

“Don’t look up to me Kendall, I’ve done things that I don’t want you to ever to and to ever think about doing” I sighed and she looked up at me, all sorts of questions in her eyes. “I’ll tell you one day, but just not right now” I said and she nodded.

“Lets get e-mailing your boy, I want to see what the attraction is, get him to send a picture” she smiled and I laughed and grabbed my phone. Live must have gone into her bedroom because when I looked up she was no-where to be found, she knew I wanted to spend time with my sister.

“You sure? don’t you want to just hang out and have fun?” I asked and she shook her head.

“No! I want to know about this dude. I saw the way you were smiling at your phone when we came in” she said and I giggled, a small blush taking over my face.

I’m basically being bullied from my sister to talk to you. She wants to, more like demanding to know your name to make sure you aren’t some creepy old man. She also wants a picture of you so she can make sure that you are up to her standards to be talking to her awesome big sister.

I laughed and hit send after Kendall had hit my shoulder.

“He’s going to think I’m some bully and evil child!” she exclaimed causing me to laugh some more.

“Oh don’t worry, he already knows you are an evil child. I’ve told him all about you” I winked and she huffed just as my phone buzzed. “oh! Look to see what he said!” she said overly excited and I smiled, she was so cute.

Ha! It’s Kendall right? Keep bullying your sister ;) I’m honestly not a creepy old man. I promise. I hope I’m up to her standards or I’m going to be pretty bummed:(

“He just completely ignored the name and picture parts” Kendall said surprised and I nodded, it wasn’t the first time he had done that. “I think you should just keep asking his name until he answers you.” Kendall said and grabbed my phone before I could object and sent email after email asking his name.

I’m guessing this is Kendall? Since you are being ever so nice about asking my name I guess you can call me Adam.

“Adam” I said out loud and tilted my head. “He said his name began with a J” I said confused.

“I’ll just ask him about that then” Kendall shrugged and I laughed, this girl was unbelievable.

Damn, you caught me :( okay my name is……………..Joseph.

“Joseph.” I said out loud again. “That fits, I like it” I nodded and smiled. “it suits him” I said grabbing my phone.

“He sounds like an idiot. So did you get Joe Jonas’ new album yet?!” she asked changing the subject and I nodded and she squealed.

“It’s so good, god I would love to meet him” she said dreamily as she stared at the wall ahead of her.

“Oh get a grip Kendall, like you would ever have a chance with him. He is like a superstar plus you are like eight years younger than him, I’m pretty sure he could get locked up for that” I laughed standing up and heading for the kitchen to start making food.

“Oh shut up, let me dream” she said throwing a cushion at me causing me to laugh. “you’re just jealous you are stuck with your random cyber boyfriend Joseph” she giggled and I shook my head.

“At least there is more of a chance of getting with him than any of us even getting near Joe Jonas” I laughed.
