/Friends At Heart/

chapter 9

This is now joyxjay with Avery's POV.

    I look around at everyone a bit nervous. I take of my shoes and put them in the corner of the room.

"Well as you guys know, I am a competitive dancer, so I wanted to perform a routine for everyone." I say and smile at his parents.

His mom's eyes fill with excitement. I hooked my phone up to one of their stereos. I decide to dance to Lost Boy by Ruth B.

The room got silent until the song came on.. I do not own this song, this belongs to the singer Ruth B.

"There was a time when I was alone.. Nowhere to go and no place to call home." The song plays. I fall to the floor slowly and come back up with a handstand, going into a backbend and standing up.

"My only friend was the man in the moon, and even sometimes he would go away too." The song plays. I lift my leg as if I were doing a highkick but slowly, and pull my leg back next to my leg, my hand grasping foward and coming back in with my leg.

"Then one night as I close my eyes, I saw a shadow flying high. He came to me with the sweetest smile, told me he wanted to talk for awhile." The song plays. I do about 3 turns and then lean to the side with my right leg up. I do cartwheel back onto the the ground.

For the rest of the song, I continue to do some classic lyrical and contemporary moves. Everyone studies how I move with their eyes.

When I finish, they all clap and have smiles on their faces. I thank them and smile, heading to the corner to get my shoes. I'm sweating just a bit. Everyone goes off to do what they do.

I need a water bottle. I wonder where Jackie went. I walk to the kitchen and barely enter because I hear laughter. I peek my head in just a tiny bit.

"You did not!" Jackie says while shes laughing, looking at Derik with genuine eyes.

"I did! The cliff was really tall and ran deep into the water. You should have seen Liam's face when I pushed him off! He ended up loving it though." He says through laughter.

They look at each other and awkwardly but cutely stare into eachothers eyes for a couple of seconds.

Jackie smiles. "I should really get going, Avery is probably waiting on me." She says while looking at Derik.

"Shes probably off making out with her boyfriend, why don't you make out with yours?" He says.. Joking. At least I think?

"I don't have a boyfriend." She says with a cheeky smile as she still stares him in the eyes.

"Not yet anyway." He says and smirks. "Whats that supposed to mean?" She says with raised eyebrows.

"Nothing. Go find Avery, she probably is waiting for you." He says and laughs. He walks out of the kitchen from the other side and I hurry upstairs to get my purse from Liam's room.

What in the world did I just witness.
