It was the day I graduated college
and I had looked forward to it.
I looked forward to having my dream job
and a dream house
With my dream husband
But my lover was over-seas
So i drew the line
between expectations and reality.
I looked forward
to a lot of things that day
but there standing
in the back of the hall
with a straight posture
in his camouflage uniform
was the man of my dreams.
That moment was least expected
but the most wanted.
He was in good health and alive.
I looked up and thanked God
for letting the authorities send him home
to spend time with the ones left behind.
Off the stage I ran,
into the arms of my hero
Nothing else mattered until
he was on his his knees
with a ring that will officially
welcome me into his family.

So...I thought it'd be good to write a poem that was not sad/depressing. I love military references because I feel like those soldiers do more than we know for us. They risk their lives and leave their families behind just to protect us and they deserve so much. Should I do more like this and mix up my style a little?. Vote If you like the poems and remember if you have any specific topic you want me to write on. Message me.

Poetic Justice
PoetryThis a book containing my poems. The poems are far from literal, i don't write directly. It's also a bit depressing. I don't write about hearts and flowers. That may or may not change in the future. You want poems to relate to loneliness, depression...
