Two more weeks had passed, and I hadn't seen Ty anywhere, not that I was expecting to; New York has over 8 million residents. Trying to find one of them is a daunting, and unrealistic task. But that didn't stop my eyes from wandering when I was out and about.

I had gotten into my doctor a week after I found out and she had confirmed that I was pregnant. They were able to do an ultrasound there and I was told I was 5 weeks along, still very early. But she told me to go ahead and try to get into an OBGYN because it could take some time.

Turned out that Dr. Keith had some openings that week and was able to see me right away. She was the coolest doctor I had ever been to, and extremely helpful. I had no doubts that the baby was Ty's, but I asked about a paternity test just to rule out Finn. She had said we could do a blood test as early as 8 weeks as long as I had a sample of the father's DNA.

It was quite an awkward situation when I told her I wanted it to rule someone out, not to confirm the father. She understood and told me to bring something that had his DNA. Luckily, when Finn broke up with me, he didn't take any of his stuff with him and I hadn't gotten rid of it yet. I had a brush of his in the drawer that was he put things in at my apartment. So he didn't even have to know about any of this.

I was sitting at a table in the library when I saw him across the library, studying with some of his friends. My heart starting beating fast, scared that he'd see me. I know his friend Simon did, because he was laughing quietly at something someone said, but once he spotted me, he stopped cold. I took a deep breath, assuming he'd tell Finn and then Finn would come over. But Finn never came over. I was left alone.

I had come here to work on a paper, but was too distracted by the group of guys sitting across the library from me. And too distracted by the baby growing inside me. Since I had found out, my priorities had been all messed up. My mind wasn't focused on school. While I was still doing well and getting things done, I suspected I could be doing better and putting forth more effort.

"Hey, chick," Hanna said, sitting down across from me.

I looked up and smiled at her. "Hey."

"How's that paper coming?" she asked.

"I've written two more paragraphs," I complained. I had been here for nearly 2 hours now, and hadn't made much progress.

"Ouch," Hanna winced. "You still have time, though. It's not due until after spring break."

"Have you decided what you're going to do?" I asked.

"I'm staying here."

"Good for you. How did they take the news?"

"They were pissed at first, saying I was no fun and calling me a prude. But then they understood that we didn't live the same lifestyles."

"They talked to you like that?"

"Yeah. They're just starkly honest. I don't let it get to me. You still planning on going home?"

"Mhmm. I leave a week from Friday."

"Are you nervous?"

"Of course I am. I have to tell my parents that I'm pregnant with a stranger's baby. That's going to go over so well."

"I don't envy you," she said honestly.

"I don't envy me, either."

"Hey, isn't that Finn over there?" Hanna whispered.

"Yes, it is. He hasn't seen me yet. Or at least he hasn't acknowledged me."

"Well he's looking over here now..."
