The last full week of June, Logan's friends flew in from Pennsylvania so that we could go dress shopping together before everyone went their separate ways.
Poppy and Dana were both friends from back home; she had known Dana since middle school and Poppy since high school. They were both also bridesmaids.
We started at Bella Bridesmaids to look for bridesmaids dresses. Logan signed us in and we had to wait a little bit before two employees came over to us.
"I'm Sarah," the taller, a blonde said cheerfully.
"And I'm Leslie and we're going to be assisting you today. Who is the bride?" Leslie asked, looking between the six of us.
Logan raised her hand and Sarah spoke up. "Congratulations!" Logan smiled awkwardly in acknowledgment. "What colors are we going to be looking at?"
"Navy."
"When is your wedding going to be?"
"New Years Eve."
"Wonderful! I know you probably know this, but this decision will have to be made soon to ensure the dresses get back from the designer in time," Sarah reminded us.
We all nodded in agreement with her statement.
"Now, how do you want their dresses? Do you want them all to be the same or pick their own as long as they're the same shade? That's up to you."
She looked around to all of us, trying to make the decision. "I'd like them to be the same if they can find one they all like and can wear. If not, then I guess we could go with as long as they're the same color."
"Alright, this way, Ladies," Leslie said, requesting for us to follow her. She took us through a doorway to a large room where there were hundreds of dresses in just about every shade imaginable. She took us over to where the different shades of blue dresses were and then said, "Take a look around. Anything you like, just pull it out and hang it on this rack right here. I'll be back to check on you in just a bit."
We all said our version of "thank you" and set to work, going through the dresses. When we were done, we had about 15 between the 5 of us. I only picked up one because I really didn't know how I was supposed to do this.
Leslie and Sarah came and got the rack and then led us to the dressing rooms.
Poppy ended up being our model for the dresses and then the ones we really liked once we narrowed it down, everyone tried on.
The first one was a navy blue chiffon one shoulder dress. It looked beautiful on Poppy and we decided we all liked it enough for it to be an option. The second one didn't look bad on the hanger, but was not flattering at all. It was satiny and form fitting, something I probably couldn't risk wearing postpartum.
The third one was a lacy sleeveless dress that was very elegant. It was pretty split, so it was put in the 'no' side. Poppy tried on three more dresses, none of them sticking out.
When Poppy put the seventh dress on, I knew it was the one I wanted. It had a sweetheart neckline and then had lace to create the top of the dress (so that it wasn't strapless). It was flowy with an empire waistline and a band. I knew it would be a good one in case I didn't get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight in time.
"I love it," Dana said, eyes sparkling.
"That's my favorite," I said.
Taylor said, "This is this the one for me."
"What do you think, Pop?" Logan asked.
"I think it's beautiful. It's probably my favorite so far."
