I had pestered Ty the rest of the week, trying get him to cave on telling me about the baby shower. He kept telling me he knew nothing, but I knew better than that.
I woke up this morning and remembered that he had left super early this morning to head to Los Angeles for 4 days and then he'd be back for a series with the Cubs over the 4th of July holiday.
Today was the day of the baby shower Olivia and the girls planned for me. A smile spread across my face as I tried to move. Nala was in my way, though, so I decided to get out of bed and started getting ready for the day. Olivia had said she'd be here to pick me up at 9:30 and it was currently 8:15.
I walked into my bathroom and turned the water on so that it could warm up before I stepped in. I got my towel down off of the hook, setting it on the counter so it was easier to reach. I stuck my hand under the stream of water to confirm that it was warm enough to get into. I stripped down and stepped over the side of the tub and pulled the curtain closed behind me. The warm water took the chill off of my skin as I squirted shampoo in my hand and lathered it into my hair. After I rinsed the shampoo out, I washed my body before standing under the water, letting it relax my muscles.
For being 25 weeks pregnant, I felt great. Things were progressing well and I still had a lot of energy. But I began to notice that it was becoming harder to do things I had previously had no problem doing. Perhaps part of my soreness had come from all that came with moving, but I had been spending more time under the steady stream of warm water. What I really needed was a massage.
After I had determined that enough time had passed and if I didn't get out soon, I wouldn't be ready when Olivia got here, I climbed out and grabbed my towel, wrapping it around me.
I walked out of the bathroom and dressed in a pair of running shorts and a tank top so that I could get ready without getting something on my dress.
Nala stood at the sliding doors to the balcony, barking to be let out. I walked over and opened the door, Nala immediately running over to the puppy pad.
The weather this morning was incredible. There was a slight breeze in the air and the sun was shining bright.
When Nala was finished, we went back inside. I gave her her breakfast before going back to the bathroom to do my makeup and my hair.
Because it was my baby shower, I figured I needed to do something with my hair, one thing I haven't done much recently. I plugged my curling iron in and did my makeup while it heated up. As I was finishing the last section of my hair, I heard a knock at the door.
"Coming!" I yelled, hoping they'd hear me. I set the curling iron down and walked briskly to the door.
I opened it to reveal Olivia on the other side. Her brown hair was curled in beach waves and her tan skin was even tanner than the last time I saw her, even though that was just a few days ago. She was wearing a coral maxi skirt with a fitted white tank top tucked into it.
"I'm almost ready," I promised.
"Take your time, I'm a little early," she assured me.
"Make yourself at home. I'll be back in a few minutes." I hurried back into my room and to the bathroom and finished my hair. After I unplugged it, I grabbed the dress off my bed and changed into it. It was navy at the top and had teal, navy, purple, and orange paisley from my waist down. I slid my navy flats on my feet and then went back out to the living room where Olivia was sitting, Nala resting on her lap.
I pulled a treat out of the container and said, "Let's go, Nala." She jumped down and came eagerly and got right into her pen. "That has never been that easy," I said with a laugh.
