The next morning I got up early to finish packing the last few things of mine. I had tried to talk Ty out of doing this today because he had gotten hurt in the game last night. Nothing serious, but he didn't need to further injure his arm. He said Sean personally threatened him that if he worked too hard, he'd punch him. Such a great friend, and typical of males. Always resorting to violence, even if it was an empty threat.
After his injury, though, Sean called in reinforcement and asked a couple of the other players to come help out. They were more than willing to help, especially if it meant Ty didn't have to do as much and risk further injury.
When I was ready, clad in a pair of navy running shorts with white and little pink bows on the sides of the legs and a pink v-neck, I loaded up a few boxes with the help of Victoria and then took them to Ty's.
I carried one of the lighter boxes up and sat it down before knocking on the door. He answered it, looking tired. Nala greeted me happily, though. I leaned down to pet her and she licked every inch of my hand.
"Morning," he mumbled.
"Hi," I smiled, hoping to cheer him up a bit.
He saw the box sitting on the ground and started grumbling about how I shouldn't be lifting things. "I'm pregnant, Ty. Not disabled."
"What is this?"
"Clothes," I answered, and he took it into my new bedroom. This room had been set up as a guest bedroom. Ty had told me on more than one occasion that I could redecorate it if I wanted to but I kept reassuring him that I liked it the way it was.
The walls were a very light cream color and so was the upholstered headboard, though the shade was just slightly different, though it went together really well. The bed had a white duvet on it with tan and white striped accent pillows and a huge cream colored knitted throw draped across the end of the bed. There were two white bedside tables on either side of the bed clad with lamps sporting a cream colored base. For a guy, his condo was decorated really nicely. I liked it a lot.
He set the box by one of the dressers, which were also white, and then came to stand by me. "I have a surprise for you. I want to show it to you before everyone gets here," he said as he pulled me behind him, Nala at our heels.
Ty went to the door at the end of the hall, what used to be his "TV room" and what was going to be the nursery. He looked back at me before cracking the door and then pushing me in front of him.
"Close your eyes," he demanded and then put one of his large hands over my eyes, just in case. He directed me into the room before he asked if I was ready. I was. I was really curious to see what this surprise was. We had talked about the nursery a little, and we had the bedding, but he never mentioned doing anything to it.
"Okay," he said as he moved his hand away from my face.
I opened my eyes and let out an audible gasp. The nursery was all put together. It was complete. "Olivia helped me design it and she and Sean helped me paint it. Sean and I put the furniture together," he said nervously. "What do you think?"
"I absolutely love it," I cried as tears fell from my eyes. This whole being pregnant thing didn't help my already emotional personality. I took the couple steps toward him and threw my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. When I pulled away, I placed a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you."
He wiped the tears from my eyes. "You're welcome." His smile was breathtaking, and in that moment, I wanted to kiss him so badly. But I refrained. And by the way he was looking at me, I wondered if maybe he was thinking the same thing.
I took another look around the room; the walls were painted in horizontal gray and white stripes the whole way around the room. All of the furniture, bookshelf, dresser, changing table, were white. There was a glider in the corner that was white with gray damask accompanied by a footrest. The curtains we had bought at Target were hanging from the two windows in the room and the bedding we had put on the registry was in the crib. Written in black paint on one of the white stripes above the crib was the word "goodnight", written in cursive font. That had to be Olivia's doing.
Feeling overwhelmed, I went over and sat down in the glider, the teal accent pillow supporting my back. The realness of the situation hit me hard. "We're going to have a little baby to put in this room," I mumbled.
Ty came over and sat down on the footrest. "We are, and I can't wait to meet her." I smiled at him and he smiled back. "Do you have more stuff in your car?"
"A little bit."
He went and got it while I started on putting the stuff away from the box I carried up.
Before he came back, there was a knock at the door and Nala started going crazy. I picked her up and held her in one arm as I opened the door. Sean and Olivia were standing on the other side.
"Come on in," I said. They came through the door and I closed it behind them and put Nala down. Then I wrapped them both in a hug. "Thank you guys so much for the nursery. I love it."
"I'm glad you like it," Olivia said, smiling proudly.
"Anything for my best friend," Sean said. It was really neat to see their bond and how welcoming he was of me when I came into the picture, even though it was a less than ideal circumstance. And he introduced me to Olivia and she and I got along great. I had met a few of the other players' significant others, but there were still quite a few players and their partners that I didn't know.
"Speaking of, where is he?" Olivia asked.
"He went down to get some stuff out of my car. He thinks I'm incapable of helping," I said with a roll of my eyes.
Just then, I heard, "I what?"
"Nothing."
"That's what I thought," he said with a laugh. I rolled my eyes, shooting Olivia a playful look. "Do you have the truck outside?"
"Yeah, it's all ready to go," Sean said of the moving truck they rented for today. Because we both lived in the middle of Manhattan, having multiple vehicles isn't the best option.
So the four of us set off for my apartment to get all of my things and bring them here. Stuff I didn't need, like my bed and bedroom furniture, was getting taken to storage.

I sat around my new place that evening with Ty, Sean, Olivia, the girls, and Bryce, Matt, and Adam from Ty's team, eating pizza and drinking Sprite, beer for everyone else. We were all just enjoying each other's company and getting to know one another better.
"We have another surprise for you," Olivia said, gaining everyone's attention. The girls' faces lit up and Ty was smiling at me. I hated being the center of attention like this.
"Okay..." I said skeptically.
"Logan and I have been working together the past few weeks to throw you a baby shower this coming Saturday," Olivia informed me.
"We wanted to do it before we left and everything started getting busy," Logan added. Cue the happy cries. Again.
"You guys are awesome," I said, wiping my eyes and giving each one of them a hug.
Everyone stayed for another hour after that. I tried getting details out of the girls about the shower but they wouldn't budge on.
Ty and I thanked everyone as we said goodbye at the door. When he closed the door behind the last one to leave, we went back over to the couch. He fell backward onto it, and I curled up into his side.
"I'm so tired." I yawned.
"Then go to bed." He yawned as well, and pulled me into his side more.
"I just might do that," I said, nuzzling in. "This is mighty comfy."
"It is," he agreed.
