*Son's POV*

Days passed quickly, and the weekend came by. It was my birthday. I was turning 20 years old. At first the day was calm, but everyone of my friends came by, and they took me out. Boy, did we have fun. We went up and down, side by side, everywhere that I'd never gone to.

It was really fun, but it didn't compare to the suprised that I got. Apparently, I didn't notice some of the guys actually stayed in the house, decorating and setting up everything. I was really shocked and stunned when I opened the door and heard "SUPRISE!!!" blasted right into my ear. We had a big party. Everyone was having fun, and I actually used the drone that was given to me a week before. The reactions of other people to the drone were funny to watch, specially since I hooked up a small camera so I could see the reactions much better, and probably upload them. The party went on until the sunset. I did a simple count of the people before they left, and everyone I knew was actually there. Well, almost everyone. I thought to myself before the party that if he showed up here, I would at LEAST accept that he TRIES to be more time with me, but he, once again, had to bail. Once the party ended, people started going home, and Raymond said he had to look for something, and of course I let him leave and told him I'd wait. After a while, only a small number of people was left, which was slowly decreasing. Soon, it was only Hannah and me. I didn't know what to do after the party, so I just sat on the little stairs in the backyard, and started thinking. Why do I, every time I don't have anything to do, just start thinking? And of what? Ways to make my life better? I don't even know anymore. Apparently, Hannah saw that something was bothering me, and she came to talk to me.

--Humphrey?--she said.

--Yeah?--I replied

--Are you ok? You seem bothered--she asked, noticeably worried.

--Huh? No, I mean yeah, I'm alright, don't worry.--I said, stuttering a little bit.

--was the party not fun?--She asked, suprising me.

--WHAT? Of course it was. It was, literally the best party I have ever had.--I paused for a moment--but...--

--But, what?--She asked, once again, noticeably worried.

--Not everyone that was invited came to the party.--I said, lowering my tone.

--You mean, you wanted him to be here too?--She asked, more calmly.

--Well, it's not that I HATE him, he's a really good guy, it's just that, he's not here most of the time and...--I stopped there.

--And what?--She asked, obviously wanting me to finish.

--...And sometimes, sometimes I want to hear the excuse that he doesn't care about me. I don't wanna hear that he suffers because he can't be there for me, that's sad.--I finished.

--Yeah, but you try to be nice to him, right?--she paused to see me say yes, which never happened.--Right?

--Well, let's just say that the confusion kinda swirls my mind up, making me NOT know what to think, and sometimes coming out as REALLY negative attitude--I answered, which didn't make her that happy.

--HUMPHREY!!--She shouted, a little annoyed.

--I Know, I know, but at least I try.
Sometimes.--I finished.

We were interrupted by quick steps and panting in the front of the house. I stood up to check who it was, and I felt a little better about my situation. It was Raymond and, Dad? I stayed there, waiting for them to catch they're breath, and Dad started talking.

--Hum *pant* Humphrey, I'm sorry I'm *gasp* sorry I'm late, I was just getting something in *pant* in the way.-- he said, still panting and gasping for air. After the talk I had with Hannah, I honestly didn't know what to say.

--I know how boring it *pant* it gets after the party, so I went to get him. Happy B-Day?--Raymond said, kinda nervously since he didn't know the reaction that I would have. We all stopped for a moment there.

--Umm, dad, I..-- I started talking, but he interrupted me.

--You don't need to say it, I know that I'm late, I always am.--he said, it suprised me a little bit, but he continued.--And I know that no matter what I give you, you won't forgive me for all the times I wasn't there, but I want you to know, that even though I am rich & famous, money isn't everything, and I'm still a human, well, sorta, you know what I mean.--

--Dad, I...-- he interrupted me once again.

--I didn't wanna miss it, but I forgot what day it was, and when I realized that it was the 4th of July, even though that's an American date, I knew, and remembered, that it was your birthday.--he paused once again.

--Dad.--as suspected, he interrupted me once again.

--But I want you to know that even if I'm late, I'll always try my best to...--

--DAD, I'M TRYING TO TALK HERE!!!--I shouted, finally shutting him up.--Thank you. Look, I know it's your work and everything, but honestly, you're not the only one that has been screwing up lately, so, you don't really need to apologize.

--Wait, are you saying...--he said, with a smile slowly growing on his lips.

--...I forgive you dad.--I finished. He was starting to put a face that looked as if he was about to cry of happiness, but it went off in an instant.

--...Well, that's good, guess you'll be enjoying your present much more then.--he said, as he pointed a red & black, brand new, beautiful Maserati lookalike behind him.

--Wait, WHAT?!?!--I said, and screamed at the present.

He got the keys out of his pocket and gave them to me. I looked at the keys, then the car, then my dad, then the keys again, and I took 'em and ran to the car. I opened it and started the engine.

--Woah, nice, where'd you get it?!--I asked him.

--Well I know how much you wanted a drone, but as your friend Ray here told me, you already got one as a present. So I have a friend at work and he helped me build this.--he said, suprising me.

--But the materials are so good, it must've cost a fortune.--I said.

--Well, money is not everything, is it?--he said. I felt a deja vu, and I smiled.

--Well, too bad you won't be able to use it to ride down some times, since work time and all.--I said, kinda disappointed.

--Well, that might have been for back then, you know.--he said, confusing me. Then suddenly, I realised what he meant.

--You meann...--

--My work time has been gotten down thanks to the guy that I work for now. Since the meeting today went so well, I have less work time over there.--he said, making me smile. Once he saw the smile on my face, I could see a tear going down his cheek. I could tell, he wanted this to happen.

--That's great, Dad.--Never in my life have I ever said those words, but I said that.

--Well, otherwise you would've found me in the hospital.--He said, confusing me.

--What?--I asked, confused.

--NOTHING, nothing, umm, why don't you go down and take it for a spin.--he said, and I felt kinda weird, but I went with it.

Finally, everything is going great between us. His work is less, his time with me is more, we don't discuss as much, and I had the party of a lifetime. AND, not to brag, But I have one of the best cars in existance. I don't know how this can get better. Sadly, there is always a calm before the storm.
