We walked for a couple of miles, to a gas station. 'Of all the places to hide, and he takes the most public place' I thought, but continued to follow.
-- Where are we even going? -- I asked. -- We're in the middle of no where. --
-- While I was in the room with that woman, she told me about why she was looking for you. -- He said, which made me a little uneasy.
-- What?! What did she say?! -- I asked, now losing my calm.
-- Nothing you don't know. Theft, treason, bla bla bla. -- He said, which made me calm down.
-- Oh, I thought she accused me of something new. -- I said, relieved.
-- She didn't, but she said more. -- He replied, getting my nerves back. -- Apparently, she only hates YOU, but is worried about me. --
-- Go on! -- I said, not knowing where this was going.
-- She told me that, once you were in "taken down", to rendevouz somewhere. -- He said, now my nerve turning to fear. -- But, since it never happened, I figured we could give her a "different" visit. --
'What is he saying? I mean, I understand she attacked us, and almost killed me, but attacking a cop? And now threatening the girl? Where did this attitude come from?'
-- Ok, good plan. How are you gonna do it? -- I asked, trying to act more calmly.
-- Oh, I'm not doing a thing. I wasn't the one threatened to death an hour ago. -- He said. -- You just hide and wait for my signal. Once I have her fooled, you jump in. --
-- Oh, ok. -- I said -- 'This kid is tougher than I am, and that's saying something' --
He told me to wait in the side of the gas station building, where the darkness hid me. This was pretty well thought, only one problem we didn't consider. I was still cuffed from behind, which made things a little more complicated. I tried to jump the cuffs to put them in front of me, then I heard Hydro start talking, out of nowhere.
-- So you DID decide to get a better life, didn't you? You're smart, kid. -- She said, in a friendlier, much calmer tone than before.
-- Well, of course I'm smart, I'm my father's son. -- He said -- And yeah, you could say I'm getting a better life --
-- "You could say"? What do you mean? -- She said. I realized she was onto Humphrey, and once I jumped the cuffs, I quickly jumped to her, disabling her in an armlock.
-- You know EXACTLY what he means! -- I said, in a furious tone.
-- That wasn't the signal, but good call. -- Humphrey said, calm as ever, behind me.
--YOU?! What are you doing here?! I thought you were cuffed already. -- She said, trying to break free.
-- I don't know if you noticed, but he IS cuffed. -- Humphrey said, once again, calm as ever.
-- You know why I'm here! I KNOW you do! -- I said, changing my tone to a more calmer one. -- Or did little miss spy get her intel wrong? --
-- Get off of me!!! -- She shouted.
-- Not until you tell me why you tried to kill me. -- I said, turning more serious.
-- I already did!!! -- She shouted once more.
-- That's not enough! You tried to kill me, and you told me it was because I was accused of theft. -- I said, and paused for a moment.
-- Yeah, so? -- She said, still trying tk break free.
-- If someone was accused of theft, wouldn't the law enforcement try to arrest instead of kill? You know, to INTERROGATE them?! -- I said, now calming down, realising I didn't NEED to be nervous.
-- Oh, get to the point already!!! -- She said, losing her calm.
-- You were hired as a hitman, or hitwoman, not as a spy or "Bringer of Justice". If you were, the mission would've been to "Capture the Objective"! -- Humphrey said behind me. Hydro calmed down below me.
-- What? They told me you were dangerous! That I HAD to take you out, or... -- She said, but got interrupted by Humphrey.
-- If he WAS as dangerous as they said, whoever "they" are, don't you think he would've taken YOU down already, rather than tie you up and interrogate you? -- He said, making Hydro calm down completely below me.
-- Makes sense. -- She said, surprising both of us.
-- Wait, you're actually on our side with this? -- I asked, legitimately confused.
-- No, I'm not. -- She said, once again. -- But it would make more sense to arrest rather than attack. -- For some reason, I felt taking off the armlock wouldn't be bad, but I hesitated.
-- Did you seriously think about that NOW?! -- I asked.
-- Hey, I was given orders. I HAD to follow them! I didn't think of why I was doing it, I was just gonna get paid for the job, and THAT'S IT! -- She shouted, getting tense once again. -- Now get off of me!
-- Will you attack me or my son? --
-- Fine, I won't -- She said, unconvincingly. I stared at her. -- ALRIGHT, I promise! --
I let go of her. Thinking she wasn't gonna be true to her words, I kept my arms up, ready to put her back in a lock. She just massaged her wrists and neck, then glared at me.
-- Calm down, Raynose. I'm not a burglar, I'm a proffesional. -- She said, I stayed on guard.
-- You tried to kill me, how can I calm down. -- I said.
-- Good point. -- She replied.
-- Enough of this, can't you just tell us what your "client" wanted? Or rather, why he wanted my father dead? -- Humphrey asked, annoyed of our disscusion.
-- They didn't say. I recieved an anonymous call saying they needed you gone, and if I took the job, I'd get paid triple my yearly salary. -- She said, now calming down again. -- They had an obstruction in the voice, and didn't say a name other than yours. --
-- Oh, so you're not a hitwoman, you're a bounty hunter. -- I said, annoying her. -- No lead or trace, huh? --
-- You ARE going to help us, right? -- Humphrey asked, almost making me chuckle.
-- She tried to kill me, and now you want her to help us? You can't be serious. -- I said.
-- She tried to kill you, but she works with the law. If you want to get out of this mess, we need "intel" from both sides of the law. -- He said, convincing me a little.
-- Well, you didn't expect me, yet took me down easily. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get you with you guard up. -- Hydro said, surprising me. -- Besides, I am curious as to how this will turn out. --
-- I guess I have no other choice, do I? -- I asked, both of them shook their heads.
I let my arms relax, still cuffed. She signaled me to let her pick them off. With a simple movement of the tumblers, my hands was free at last. It was surprising to see the one that tried to kill me was now helping me STAY alive. I massaged my wrists, and she leaned close to me.
-- If this turns that out you're just buying time to escape, I won't hesitate to strike you down anymore. -- She said. I smirked, and nodded.

The Life Of A Genius's Son
AdventureHello there, Toby here. This is my very first story (at least that I actually write), so don't judge. It's about three characters who have a situation, that I will write about in the next chapters. Once again, first story, so, I hope you'll like it.
