"Jamie, people are coming over. Can you put that down and help me?" I asked, looking at him. He was sitting at the table with his laptop. I have no clue what he was looking at or what he was doing.
"Who's coming over?" He asked, keeping his eyes on his laptop screen.
"Brendon, Sarah, Maybe Dallon and Breezy, and my friend Ryan. I told you they would be coming over last week. Weren't you listening?" I asked, coming over to him. He closed his laptop before I stood next to him.
"I don't remember that."
"I did tell you. I made sure you to tell you. I needed you to take it off. Brendon and Sarah wanted to see you." I lied. Brendon's told me he hates Jamie. And Sarah doesn't care for him either.
Jamie muttered something harsh under his breath and I shook my head.
"Just clean the bathroom." I stated.
"Fine." He stood up and walked away. I sat in his seat as soon as he was out of sight. I opened his laptop and went to his emails. The first one was from a girl named Penny Wonton. The second one... Penny Wonton. Third. Fourth. Fifth. Most of them were from this girl. There was a recent one. I clicked it.
'Have you talked to her yet? I miss you.'
It went on. Apparently they've been together for a year. There was some other nasty stuff in this email. The kind of stuff another woman shouldn't be saying to a married man.
I closed his laptop and stood up, feeling like I was going to be sick. I walked to the kitchen and continued cooking.
{***}
Brendon was the first to show. He said Sarah would be running a little late and Ryan will be here in 5 minutes and that the Weekes are sick and will not be attending.
"I need to talk to you." I whispered as soon as he stepped inside. I pulled him down the hall and into the master bedroom.
"Is everything okay?" He asked, pulling his jacket off to place it on the bed and then running his hand through his hair.
"It's Jamie." My voice trembled, and I looked at Brendon.
"What he do? I swear if he hurt you I'm going to whip his ass and then get Zack to whip it too."
"The girl's name is Penny... They've been together for a year." I sighed and looked away. My eyes welled up. "He's going to see her tonight after everyone leaves."
"Amy," Brendon started and wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tight.
"He doesn't know I know. I'm gonna call him out on it."
"Do you know what you're going to say?"
"No." I replied and then the doorbell rang. A muffled 'I'll get it' could be heard. "My ex-boyfriend is about to meet my husband." I shook my head.
"I'm sorry I brought Ryan back into your life. I just know that I won't be there if you and Jamie get a divorce." He stated. I nodded.
"It's fine. I'm trying to be nice to him. I really am."
"Let's go out there."
"I made some wontons." I stated with a smirk. We both exited the room and walked out. Ryan and Jamie were sitting in the living room. The tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with scissors.
