*Elizabeth*
"Dad, please don't do this to me. Not today. I don't want to be all cut up and bruised on my first day of high school tomorrow.""First of all it is Sir to you, and second you're lucky your mother doesn't want any attention drawn to you."
"I'm sorry Da... I mean Sir... I'll make sure that I don't bring any attention to me."
"You better not! Or you will get ten times worse of a beating than usual. And since I'm letting you off with nothing today, this weekend is going to be hell for you. Understood?"
"Yes Sir."
"Now go to bed so I don't have to see your ugly face anymore, and I'm sure that your mother will not want to see you when she gets home either. That also means no dinner for you tonight, but you should be used to not having dinner. I mean you should just stop eating all together you worthless, fat, piece of shit. Now go before I really get mad!"
I turned and quickly sprinted down to my room, tears erupting from my eyes. I guess I really am worthless. I mean why else would my parents hate me so much. I didn't ask to be born. Just before I got to my room I heard my father scream "Hey while you're at it maybe you should just kill yourself. It would be easier for everyone!" I quietly shut my door. Not wanting to make him mad. I laid down in my bed, and I can't help but look at my bathroom. Longing to take all the pills I have in my cabinet, but I know I must be strong. I can't give up. I have to prove them wrong. I have to show them I am worth it.
The next morning I didn't want to wake up my parents, so I quickly took a shower and snuck out of the house with no breakfast. I walked five miles to school, but once I finally got there I was actually happy. I mean I don't have any friends because I'm not allowed to, and this is also my first year at a new school. So I don't really know where I'm going or what to do, but that's okay as long as I'm not at home.
I walked into my new school, head down, trying not to bring attention to myself. Not paying attention I run into someone knocking both her and myself to the floor. "I'm so sorry" I squeak as I help her pick her things up from the ground. As soon as she takes her books out of my hands I quickly turned around, trying to leave.
"Hey wait! You're the new girl right? Um... Elizabeth?" I froze not knowing what to say. My father told me not to bring attention to myself. But what harm is talking to someone going to do.
I turned around, head still down, and shyly whisper "Yeah that's me."
"Well welcome to our school. I'm Addison, I'm a sophomore so I know my way around. If you need to know anything just come to me."
"Thanks. Will do." I looked up at her. My breath automatically taken away. She had the most beautiful eyes. They were bright blue with hazel around her pupil. I couldn't help stare. "Actually do you have any ideas on how to make more friends?" I don't know why I asked. I just wanted to talk to her more.
"Yeah! You could join a sport. That's the best way you could make more friends. Is there any sports you are interested in?"
"Yes. I've played softball all my life. Do you have a softball team here?"
"We do. I'm going to tryout for it. Actually tryouts are three weeks from now. If you want we can get together and practice."
"That sounds great. Thank you."
"No problem. Do you need anymore help?"
"No. This is my class right here. Thank you for the offer though." Addison smiled and turned to go to class. I can't help but think about her beautiful eyes and her bright smile. I don't understand why I feel this way. I've never felt like this for anyone really. My first boyfriend was a disaster once my father found out, and for some reason it always seemed wrong to be with him.
