*Addison*
I laid alone in my room wondering if I made the right choice of letting Elizabeth go home. All I can think about is calling her, but she doesn't even have a phone. I just wish I was with her right now. And I don't even know why I care so much. It's as if I can still feel her presence the warmth of her hand in mine.I picked up my phone and decide to call Chloe.
"Hello?"
"Hey Chloe it's Addison. Can we talk about Elizabeth?"
"Sure what about her?"
"Why do you think I matter to her?"
"Uh.. I don't know.. I can just see it. Why?"
"I don't know. I was just wondering... She told you about her father right?"
"Yeah she did. I feel so bad. I told her we could go to the police but she wouldn't let me."
"She won't let me either. I'm afraid something bad is happening to her right now. Should I go and check on her?"
"I don't know Addison. I don't know how her parents will react..."
"I know but I just can help but think about her. Like what if something bad happens. I wouldn't be able to take it... I think I'm going to go."
"Addison I don't know if that's a good idea.."
"I don't care Chloe. I'll bring her home with me if I have to. I'm going to check in her."
"Okay. Just don't let her get hurt. She's my best friend, and I would go and check on her myself if I had a car."
"I know Chloe. I won't let anything bad happen. I'll talk to you later okay?"
"Okay. Bye."
"Bye."
I hang up the phone and just as I was about to walk out of my room Leah calls me.
"Hey Leah what's up?"
"I was just wondering what you are doing right now."
"I'm actually about to go to Elizabeth's right now. I want to go and check on her."
"Why do you care so much about her. I don't understand it. You've known her for what? Two days? And you already are acting like this. Just forget about her Addison. She's not worth it."
"Not worth it? Not worth it! I don't know why I care about her so much but you saying she's not worth it doesn't make me like her any less! SHES WORTH IT TO ME! AND IF YOU CANT UNDERSTAND THAT THEN YOU CAN.... I DONT EVEN KNOW. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!"
"FINE I WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE!"
Leah hung up on me after that. God. I'm so angry right now. I can't go to Elizabeth's right now. She's been home for about a half an hour and it's still day light. I still have time.
I sat back down on my bed, trying to calm myself down. I laid there for about ten more minutes before I decided that it was time to check on Elizabeth. I grabbed my keys and basically ran to my front door.
"Addison wait!" I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at my parents.
"What? I'm kinda in a hurry so if you don't mind.."
"Where do you think you're going?"
"I'm going to Elizabeth's... Why?"
"It's a school night and you now that you are not allowed to be anywhere at this time."
I looked up at the clock "Mom it's only 6:00 please let me leave. Just this one time."
"Okay fine. But you better be back by 8:30."
"I will don't worry. Thanks. Love you. Bye." I sprinted out to my car. Itching to get to Elizabeth's.
On the way there I practiced what I was going to do that won't make her father beat her. Once I got to her house I finally figured out that I was going to ask if she could stay at my house.
I pulled into her driveway and quietly walked up to her door. I was expecting Elizabeth's father to answer the door. But no. It was her mother.
"Hello young lady. Why might you be here?"
"Umm. I'm here.. I uh just wanted to ask if umm.."
"Well spit it out." She giggled and grinned at me. She didn't seem so bad.
"I was wondering if Elizabeth could stay at my house..."
"Who?"
"Elizabeth... Your daughter.." Her face all the sudden turned dark.
"She is not my daughter! And you can have her over if you want! I don't care about that little piece of shit! She ruined my life!" I was speechless. I don't know how to respond to something like that. Maybe I spoke to soon. "ELIZABETH! GET YOUR GOOD FOR NOTHING ASS UP HERE WITH A BAG OF CLOTHES PACKED FOR A COUPLE DAYS NOW!" Yup I definitely spoke to soon.
I flinched at her sudden outburst. Elizabeth came sprinting up the stairs not five minutes later fear written all over her features. It broke my heart. When she saw me her eyes got wide and she almost seemed to shrink.
"Elizabeth why is this girl asking for you to stay at her house?"
"I-"
"What did I tell you about making yourself seen!"
"You told me not to." Elizabeth was speaking with the smallest voice I have ever heard in my life.
"Get out."
"W-what?"
"GET OUT!" Elizabeth flinched "SHE IS THE ONLY FRIEND YOU GET YOU HEAR ME? YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT WITH HER!"
"Yes ma'am."
"Now get out of my sight you good for nothing brat."
Elizabeth bolted outside and ran straight to my car. Her mother slammed the door shut and I turned around and ran.
"Why did you come here! Do you know how bad it is going to be when my father gets home and she tells him about this!"
"I know. I know. I'm sorry I just couldn't stand you being here."
"Do you even know if your parents will let me stay over for a few days...?"
"No. But I'm going to take no for an answer." I started up the car and backed out of her driveway. She looked both relieved and scared at the same time. But I was just glad that she was with me and not in that hell hole.
We pulled into my driveway shortly after and Elizabeth was obviously nervous. I could see it all over her features.
"Hey calm down. You're staying here for awhile. I'm not going to let them say no. No matter what. You are not going back home okay?"
"Okay." Elizabeth looked up at me. I couldn't read what emotion was going through her head. It was almost as if she had none at all. Which scared me. I can usually read her well. We slowly walked up to my door. I reached for the knob and took a deep breath. I looked over and Elizabeth, gave her a smile, and opened the door.
