*Addison*
I wait patiently at my locker for Chloe and Elizabeth to get here. Leah keeps looking at me and whenever I turn to look at her she quickly looks away. I was about to ask her what was up when all of the sudden Jake sneaks up behind me and wraps his arms around me.

"Hey Babe."

"Hey."

"What are you doing today?"

"I'm going to practice with Leah and a couple of other people before the tryouts in a couple weeks."

"Sounds fun. I hope you have fun. I'll see you later okay? I have to go and help my Dad. I love you."

"I love you too." Jake leaned down and gave me a kiss goodbye before leaving. Just then Elizabeth and Chloe walked up to my locker.

"Hey guys! Are you ready to go the field?"

"Yeah sorry we are a little late. Elizabeth had to grab some stuff from her locker." I looked over at Liz. Her head is still down. She knows I told Leah but I don't think that she trusts her enough.

"It's okay. Follow me." I walked away with Chloe and Liz following shortly behind. Leah came up to me and stated to look at me like she wanted to say something.

"Okay Leah what is it you're wanting to say?"

"What was that all about?"

"What was what all about?"

"When Jake came up to you it's like you didn't even care. But when Elizabeth walked up everything about you lit up like a Christmas tree. You looked at her like you did when you and Jake first started dating."

"It's nothing Leah. I was just happy that they came so that we could leave." I don't think Leah believed me but she left it alone and just stopped asking.

"Here we are. This ones mine. You guys can throw your bags in the back and then we'll leave." I lifted up the trunk of my car "Elizabeth will you sit up in the front with me?"

"Um.. Sure." Elizabeth put her bag in the car and got into the car. Leah was the last one to put her bag into the car.

"Why is she up front?"

"Because I asked her to be. Is that a problem?"

"Usually I'm up front. You know being your best friend and all."

"Leah calm down it's just a seat. I'm not gunna make her move now. She's already in there." Leah was about to say something but she decided otherwise and stormed off into the car. Sighing I shut the trunk and got into the drivers seat.

It was a quiet ride to the field. Nobody talked. Not even Chloe and she usually talks all of the time.

"We are here. Everyone get your bags and I'll meet you out there." Leah must still be mad because she got out of my car and slammed the door. She was the first one to get onto the field. Chloe gave Elizabeth a comforting squeeze on the shoulder and was on her way next. "Here do you want me to help you with your bags?"

"Um sure." Elizabeth looked up at me. Her cut on her lip is dry and her eye has un swelled a little bit. "Don't worry about Leah okay? She's upset for some reason and I don't really know why. Just do the best you can today okay?"

"Okay... I'm not all that worried about Leah. The only thing I'm worried about her with is her being upset toward me. And I haven't even talked to her yet."

"It will be okay. Let's just get out there and see what you can do!" She looked at me and smiled, and this time it was a real smile. Not just polite ones she gives others.

"Okay so Leah usually plays first base so we will have her there and we will rotate Elizabeth and Chloe."

"Elizabeth said that she is good at third. I think we should have her there first."

"Thank you Chloe. Okay Liz go to third, Chloe go to short, and I'll go to second." Everyone went to their spots and I continued "Okay now we will be just passing the ball around today and then we will start running to see how you newbies are." Leah laughed and threw the ball to Chloe.

We threw the ball for awhile and Elizabeth was actually really good. I was surprised that she is doing so well. She's even keeping her head up. I caught Leah staring a few times, but she didn't let that bother her.

Once we started to run I was even more impressed. Usually Leah is the fastest one on the team. But I think Elizabeth has got her beat.

"Dang Liz! I think you're faster than Leah!"

"Stop laughing Addison! She is not faster than I am!"

"Wanna bet? I'd bet on Liz because she's fast as all get out. You know what? Let's have a race between the two of you. I'll buy the winner ice cream!"

"Fine. Where is the start and finish?"

"Home to the out field fence. I think Liz can do it. Can you Leah?"

"Of course I can. Come on Elizabeth." Elizabeth slowly made her way to home. A scared expression on her face.

"Okay when I say go give it all you got. Ready. Set. Go!" And off they both went. They were tied until about first base and then Elizabeth gave it everything she had and pulled way ahead of Leah.

"Looks like Elizabeth is the winner. What did I tell you Leah?" I started to laugh but Leah looked madder than a rodeo bull.

"Ugh. Fine whatever she's faster. Can we go home? I'm tired."

"Yeah sure lets go. Liz, we'll get ice cream before I take you home." Elizabeth gave me the biggest smile and dragged her bags to the car. I was about to leave when Chloe stopped me.

"You make her happy you know that. It's hard to explain, but she lights up whenever you're around and I don't know why."

"Do I really? I mean I noticed that she doesn't do the polite smile that much."

"Yeah. I've noticed she makes you happier too."

"How so?"

"We saw you with Jake and even though you were with him you were still searching for something. And I didn't know what until he went away and you saw Elizabeth. Your whole body just seemed to loosen up. And your smile got huge."

"I.. I don't know what you're talking about...
Come on they'll be wondering what's taking us so long."
