CHAPTER FOUR
"Iris!! Get down here now or you're going to be late!" Mam said.
"Coming!" I was so excited! It was time for us to go to platform 9 3/4!! And then I'd be going to Hogwarts! I couldn't wait to find out what house I'd be in-hopefully not Slytherin. That would be awful. And I'd meet some new friends! I couldn't wait to see Nova again. Hopefully she'd be in my house...
I got out of my pyjamas and into my jeans and a red t-shirt, and I white argyle sweater, grinning like an idiot the whole time I got ready.
When I got downstairs, Mam and Araneus were eating together, and there was a plate of bacon, eggs, sausages, fried tomatoes, and toast.
"Mam, I'm not very hungry..." I protested.
"You have to eat, poppet. You have a big day ahead of you!" Mam replied, nodding at the food.
I say down and started to eat some of the bacon. I definitely couldn't eat all of this, but Mam was persistent.
"So, Iris, what house do you want to go to?" Araneus asked.
"Ravenclaw," I replied. "Slytherin would be horrid."
Perhaps I was imagining it, but Araneus seemed offended when I said that last bit.
"Which house did you go to?" I asked him.
"Oh, erm... Gryffindor." But he didn't look sure.
"Did you meet Harry Potter, then? He'd be about your age now, yeah?"
"Yes, I did. He was in my year." Araneus scowled.
"What, you didn't like him?" I asked, noticing the expression.
"You could say that," he muttered.
I wonder what his problem was.
**********
A while later, I was on the Hogwarts Express. I was becoming a bit crazed, whether it was from nerves or excitement or both, but I was rather hyper.
I had been on the train for a while, looking for Nova, or someone else that was nice that I could sit with.
"Hi," a tall, thin girl with white-blond hair and ice-blue eyes said. "Who're you? I'm Tessa."
"Oh, I'm Iris. You wouldn't happen to know a girl named Nova, would you? She's a... Er, friend of mine, I guess," I said hesitantly.
"Hmmm... No, I don't think I do. D'you want to sit here, then?" The only people I know at Hogwarts I'm not interested in consorting with. My brother, Scorpius, for instance."
"Scorpius Malfoy?" I guessed.
"Yes. I'm a Malfoy. I hate my family's reputation, especially since they live up to it. Except me. I wouldn't mind going to Slytherin, I suppose... But to annoy my parents, I hope I get put in Gryffindor."
"I want Ravenclaw," I admitted. "But Gryffindor's good too! Maybe we'll meet the potter kids!"
"I'd love that. I admire Ginny Weasley," Tessa agreed.
"Why?" I asked.
"I dunno. I just do." She shrugged.
"So, why do you have such an muggle-y name if you're a pure-blood? Especially a Malfoy!" I asked.
