Chapter Six:

Jack Age: 6

It was just another work day, Shadow and Tim were in the mines and I was in my room, I was finishing my map. When suddenly the door opened and Shadow walked in to the room. He closed the door behind him gently and I stood up from the floor, looking over at the clock,

"Its only noon Shadow, what are you doing here?" I asked, I knew what the guards would do to him if they found out he was here.

"Simple Jack, We are going to get some supplies." I was shocked by that answer, Shadow and Tim usually go out at night to get supplies, or weapons or something like that. I have never went before, I guess before they didn't think I was ready.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah, grab your knife and get ready!" Shadow climbed into our hidden entrance to our storage room.

I ran over to the bunk bed where Tim and I slept, and I reached under the bed and pulled out my Dagger with its holster. And I strapped it around my waist. A few moments later Shadow walked out of the storage room with a Sword to his side and a backpack on his back. He was wearing a hood now, and he gave me a old hoodie for me to cover my face with.

"You ready?" he asked.

"Born to be!" I answered.

We opened the door and began to walked towards the elevator. Luckily nobody was around because it was a work day and everyone was down in the mines.

"What are we getting today?" I asked.

"Well, Tim and I have managed to get all of our stuff back, weapons and clothes for the trip. However we are low on stuff for you. Any thoughts?" Shadow spoke as if he already knew the answer I was going to say.

"My Staff of Guidance! Annie gave it to me, and she said that once I learned how to use it, it would point me the way I needed to go. Plus I don't want to leave without it." The only problem was is that I forget where Miss Kathy put it.

Shadow walked into the elevator and clicked the number "1" on the elevator.

"This Staff of yours, does it have a green crystal on one end?" Shadow asked as the elevator doors opened on the first floor.

"Yes, why?" Shadow lead me to Miss Kathy's desk, he opened one of the drawers. And pulled out a set of keys.

"Stay Here, and hide." Shadow spoke, and just like that he disappeared. I ran and hid behind a plant of some kind. It was in a pot in the lobby. Right next to the couch. I didn't hear or see Shadow, however I saw a figure moving along the wall, then it hit me that was Shadow's shadow! He goes invisible but his shadow doesn't.

"That's why they call him Shadow!" I thought. Now if someone just went invisible a few years ago I would've been shocked or scared, maybe even both! But I've seen a lot of weird kids come and go from this place, goo monsters, little baby big foots, Vampires, Werewolf's and many other creatures. So I kinda became used to this sort of thing.

A few moments later Shadow reappeared in the center of the main lobby. He was holding a bag of clothes and items, and strapped around his back was my Staff of Guidance!

I was about to come out of my hiding place when guards came out of nowhere and surrounded Shadow! They came from everywhere, I counted and there was six armed men all with swords! They weren't normal military either, they had letters on the back of there uniforms "ZINC"

I heard of these guys before, the Zinc are a form of Black ops within the Guardpost Military, there's rumors that each Soilder has been genetically enchanted with more powerful reflectes, endurance and strength.

"Drop the weapons kid!" one of the Zinc yelled to Shadow. It seems that they were focused on Shadow so they didn't see me.

"Listen guys, we can sort this out!" Shadow had that smirk on his face when he said that. I knew that smirk that was the smirk of trouble, for the Zinc.

That's when a seventh man walked out from the elevator, he had a boy hiding behind his leg, I assumed it was his son. The boy looked around my age, maybe four or five years old. The man was clearly in charge by the way he walked and the way the other men looked at him. The guards kept there swords drawn on Shadow.

That's when the man spoke.

"I'm General Kenway of the guardpost militarily, do you know why were here?" The man spoke to Shadow.

"No?" Shadow answered the General's question.

"Simple, A family in guardpost visited here,  and their son Micheal. A friend of my son John." The General glanced down to his son.

"The boy got lost and we believe he was brought here." The General had a smirk as well now.

The boy pulled on his father pant leg.

"Hey, Dad, Can we leave now? I'm bored." John looked around the room and he made eye contact with me.

I was filled with fear, if the boy rats me out I'll be dead within seconds.

John put his finger to his lips as if to say "Shh."

I exhaled.

"So why point at gun at me?" Shadow asked the general.

"Miss Kathy told us to look after the lobby while she was gone, She told us to kill a kid that looks like a Bullisk.

"A what?" Shadow seemed confused,

"Kill the boy." The General picked up his son and walked him out the lobby. That's when Shadow went invisible again.

The six guards started to swing their swords around hoping to hit something.

"RUN JACK!" I heard Shadow yell. I got up and started to bolt for the staircase...
