Chapter 8

JOHNNIE'S POV

"I can't think of anything!" I scream, "I'm just gonna die! So leave me be would ya!?" I sprint off into the woods without looking back. I feel the sting of tears and wish I hadn't snapped at them, but I just can't take it. I was the runt of the litter and boy did I know it. I just wish they would treat me more like a proper vampire, instead of a child...

BRYAN'S POV

I watch Johnnie sprint off into the woods and sigh. Everyone looks at me, like I knew they would. What am I... His keeper? "Right! I'll go after him. Just make sure you have the problem solved when I get back." I snap.

"B-But?" Shannon protests.

"You'll have more than enough time, you know how stubborn he is!" I say, setting off in a sprint.

"Right!" I hear Shannon shout behind me in the distance. I run at full speed, following his trail, he never was that good at covering it. I run for a few hours and find him out of breath under a tree. I rub his back, plucking a squirrel from the branches and offering it to him. He snatches it off me, sucking it dry, as tears soak his cheeks. I pulled him into an embrace and he just went limp. He didn't even try to fight. It was like he'd just given up... He kind of had.

"Are you really okay with just turning to dust? Don't you want to at least go down fighting and say, at least I tried my best." He throws the squirrel on the ground and stares at it, dead on the ground.

"That's stupid. Everyone knows a pile of ash can't talk."

"Yeah they can!" I laugh. "See! You lied to me. I knew, you never went to Elm Ash House. That's where they look after all the vampires who didn't find their mate. That's why we had to bring that urn with us. It's to put anyone in if they fail..." I trail off, as I watch him fall to the ground.

"You mean the shame will never end..." he says in a hoarse whisper. He starts pounding the ground, trying to get rid of some of his feelings. "H-How can anyone stand being a pile of ash?" he whispers. I sigh.

"A lot of them don't. That's why they're looked after in the house. Most of them go mad..." I trail off, as it hits me what I've done. I'm so stupid! I grab Johnnie. "Don't you dare!" He fights with all the power he has, but I overpower him, pinning him to the ground. I grab a rock, smashing him over the head. "Phew! Knocked out first time this time!" I say happily. I fling him over my shoulder and sprint back to the rest of the group.

SHANNON POV

"Right! Okay! We'll sort it!" I shout after Bryan, as he sprints off in pursuit of Johnnie. "So... what are we gonna do?" Shannon addressed everyone.

"Well... What if we don't need to do anything? He probably loves him..." Ruby ponders.

"It's in his nature to hate him, so both feelings will be conflicting each other and he will be confused, therefore, even more dangerous..." Jade informs everyone.

"Pff! You're such a know it all!" Ruby grumbles.

"At least I have the knowledge and don't make stupid comments or suggestions!" Jade retaliates. Jade and Ruby stare at each other, fuming. An argument... No fight, is brewing! They lunge at each other and Jeydon grabs Jade, pulling her back and I grab Ruby, pulling her back.

"C'mon you two! I've never seen sisters fight like that... Well, this much anyway." I say with a chuckle.

"That's cos we're closer than we are to you, sister!" Ruby snaps meanly, in a tongue laced with spite.

"C'mon Ruby! That's not very nice!" Jade shouts. Then she mutters, "But you do have a point, she's so bossy."

"You're all so mean!" I shout, covering my face, "Always ganging up on me!" They both look in the opposite direction to me, grumbling. Poor Jeydon, left in the middle, swiveling his head back and forth. He always seems to be in the middle. I go and sit in a tree, whispering slightly. "I'm just so scared for everyone, as a vampire hunter is so near and we are just going to be getting nearer." Everyone stays silence for a bit, before it is broken by Jeydon.

"What if we..." Jeydon trails off, as Bryan comes back into view, with Johnnie motionless over his shoulder.

"Sooo... what did I miss?" He asks the broken group.

A/N

HEY DIAMONDS! WHAT WAS JOHNNIE GONNA DO, BEFORE BRYAN SO RUDELY KNOCKED HIM OUT? WHY IS EVERYONE ARGUING ALL OF A SUDDEN? IS IT BECAUSE OF THE LOOMING THREAT?
