War of the Thrones

Chapter Two

"Drake who did this to you?" I ask while untying him. When I rip the duck tape off he says, "this girl named Vanessa and her two sisters, Ruby and Violet. They seemed kind of crazy, they kept on asking  me where this book was and when I told them I had no idea what they were talking about they tied me up". "Why would some one tie you up for just some book?" asks Piper. "I don't know, but why would they think I had the book anyways, do I really look like a reader to you?" Drake asks laughing. "By the way, who are you guys?" he asks looking at us.  "I'm Sarah and these are my two friends, Piper and Laura, we have gone to school with you ever since middle school", I say. "Really? Why haven't  I ever noticed you guys before?" he asks.  Laura rolls  her eyes  and says,"because your popular and we are not, why would you notice us?" Drake looks at us and says quietly,"well thank you  guys for saving me." 

I stop the long pause of silence by saying,"This still makes no since, why would someone do this?" "They must of thought that this certain book was in this room, so we should probably look around just in case the book is actually here, just look for a book that looks valuable", Laura says. We all start looking around. 

"We've looked every where the book that they were looking for isn't  here", says Drake. I was about to follow my friends and walk out the door when I spot a weird looking picture on the wall. "Hey guys is it just me or is that person in that picture over there pointing at something?" I ask. Laura stops and looks at the picture and says," Yeah it looks like it's pointing at that clock over there." "But why would it be pointing at a broken clock?" asks Drake. Piper looks at the clock and asks,"how do you know its  broken?" "Because ever since I have been here it has always stays on 12:30", answers Drake. 

I keep on looking at the clock and then the picture. What does this mean, I wonder, this has to be a clue. "Wait a minute," says Laura, " you said  the clock always stays on 12:30, right?" "Yes," answers Drake. "Then maybe 1230 is some sort of a code or something, Sarah look behind the picture that's on the wall, maybe there's a safe behind it or something," Laura says. I do what she told me to do and I can't  believe  my eyes, but she's right, there's a safe! Laura types  the numbers 1230 into the key  pad that was on the safe. And I couldn't  believe  it, but it opened!! 

Laura opens the door of the safe and pools out a big red book." This must be the book they were looking for," Drake says. "But why would it be in a safe and why would it be in your room Drake and in fact why would a safe even be in this room?" I ask sounding shocked. "This whole thing just makes no since," Piper says. 

I grab the book from Laura's  hands and look at it. It's a weird book, it has no title, no nothing it's just a big red book! When I finally start reading it, it gets even weirder, it just looks like a stupid fairy tale and that's exactly  what I tell my friends.

"Well what does it actually  say?" Laura asks. I open the book again  and start  reading, " it says here that there once was a mermaid Kingdom  owned by a very powerful  king and that king soon had twin daughters, one good, one evil.  And those two daughters  soon had three daughters  of there own, three good, three evil. When it was time for one of of the Kings daughters  to become queen he could not decide who it would be, so he built three thrones and hid each one in different  places around the world, who's ever three daughters  found all three of the thrones first, then there mother shall  become queen." 

Laura looks at all of us and says,"you know what this means right?  Vanessa, Ruby and Violet are obviously  mermaids, that's why they were looking for this book, they were trying to find out where the thrones could  be." "They are obviously the evil mermaids, I mean no good person would ever tie someone up, so we better hide the book so they won't be able to find the thrones and take over the kingdom,"Piper says. "Good idea I'll  hide it in my room I know the perfect spot for it,"Laura says excitedly. I can't believe what i'm hearing, they actually believe in this stuff! I look at both of them and say,"you guys are crazy, its just a stupid fairy tale!" "If its not real then why was the book in a safe and why did they tie Drake up for it,"Laura asks. "I don't know, its probably very valuable and they were probably just looking for it so they could sell it on E-Bay  and get lots of money, besides they can't be mermaids they don't even have tails," I say. "Everyone knows that when mermaids are not in water they don't have tails, duhhhhh,"says Piper. I look at Drake who is sitting down on his bed and say,"come on drake, you don't honestly believe in this stuff to do you?" He gets up and says,"I mean it does make since and besides who doesn't love an adventure?!"

"You guys are all crazy," I yell. Then I storm out of the room and run all the way to my room not stopping. "I just need to calm down and take a long nap and then everything will go back to normal," I say to myself. When I open the door my heart suddenly starts beating faster, I can't believe what I am seeing, Vanessa is sitting on my bed!!!

"What are you doing in my room," I ask nervously. She looks at me and smiles and says,"oh, didn't you hear.......we're room mates."
