Briskly, Mom had a quick, last glance. Making sure she had the keys and our passports, she stepped in her new Urban Boots she got from her friend, Ava.
"I'm so glad we managed to dispatch the furnishings a lot earlier. I'd be in a terrible rush right now if we hadn't. Rain, did you make a check if anything is left in your room?"
I nodded slowly.
It was the last time we would see our house before moving into our new apartment in California. Ever since my Mom moved from Germany to Idaho and gave birth to me, this was my home. I wasn't that enthusiastic about moving to St. Petersburg. Not only I had to wait for my favorite TV shows to be streamed on the East Coast, but also, I was worried about meeting all these new people in my school. Since the day Mom told me we had to move, I was thinking of what kind of people I was most likely to meet. Number one on the list were pretentious, annoying surfer guys and girls, bragging with their ripped abs, perfect bodies and beach hair. Most likely, though.
Number two were probably the not-so-popular kind of people. I mean those, who wait for new people to arrive, so they have a chance of sending a new friend request on facebook. Im sure I'll meet someone like that, in the very beginning.
We saw Ava passing the second block, and focused on her car, driving closer. She was gonna pick us up, to drive us to the airport. I'm pretty sure it was a hard time for her as well. Mom and her were best friends since High School.
She turned the car and parked in the front yard, to greet us one last time until we'd greet her again, when she visits us in Spring break.
She hugged Mom tightly, and her usually dry, dark-brown eyes, seemed to tear up. I didn't hear what she quietly whispered to Mom.
"Now that's my pretty girl!", she glossed while walking to me.
I have to admit, I wasn't the prettiest. My Mom used to say, that my face is very special. Although, Despite my huge, light-green eyes and a few freckles, I didn't seem to have anything special, to be honest. Oh, and the tiny birthmark on my lobe. A major exclusivity.
We sat in the car, while I was looking through the opened window. I felt the fresh breeze of cold air gliding over my face. We passed Olivia's house, my best friend. She had planned a goodbye party for me yesterday, everyone from our year was invited. I had a lot of fun, but I was getting sad afterwards, having a feeling of emptiness. I still feel the Nostalgia in me. I was gonna miss them all so much.
"Thank you so much again, Ava. I'm so sorry. I promise, the time will go by so fast."
Now, I saw them both sobbing. Her and I weren't so close, but since I know her for such a long time, I was clearly able to emphasize with Mom.
After one last hug, we were on our way to the Gate.
Strangely, Mom didn't look back, although Ava waved. She was obviously too heartbroken, to wave back.
These were the first steps to our new Chapter.
A new, exciting Chapter.

"Rain Amelyia Davis? What a lovely name",
The woman on the jetway asked kindly while scanning our boarding passes, as I blushed.
"Thank you, Mam."
My seat was next to the window. Olivia always used to say it's super strange that had a sitting-next-to-thewindow fetish. I wasn't able to sit somewhere while driving, ever since I
was little.I watched the airplane's wheels, leaving the ground of Idaho and inserting the plane. Without
noticing, my eyes slowly closed. I had a lack of sleep since the party yesterday. The last word before I fell into a deep sleep was Mom saying I should eat something. I was pretty sure if I sleep, the flight would go by a lot faster.I woke up with a swollen, teary face and shaggy hair. Not surprisingly, the plane was going to touchdown in 30 minutes. I looked around, still a little dizzy from my long sleep. My Mom's
Eyes were shut, the cup of water in her hand was about to fall. Tentative, I ducked forward, picking up my phone that was hidden in the smallest pocket of my backpack. Although I tried connecting it with, from the very beginning of the flight, the seemingly fake Wifi connection wouldn't cope with my Phone. I had no messages, and decided to take a nap. Again."Fellow passengers, please fasten your seatbelts and raise your chairs to the upright position. We will be landing shortly." I looked out the tiny window, admiring the sky blue water.
Florida. The Florida. Should I look more forward to it?
