The next morning, I decided to wake up earlier. I was planning on doing a pretty hairstyle today, which I saw the other day: A french braid, that closes with a rose-shaped knot. Beside meeting Jackson again today, I knew I was also going to meet his friends, that were soon to be my classmates. Or even friends.
I couldn't think of how they would be like. I really hoped they were welcoming and not pushing me off.
I started to recognize a delicious smell coming through the hallway. I knew my Mom was making her delicious pancakes, she honestly makes the best ones. I was already thinking of how I was gonna coat it while walking down the stairs, when I heard someone knocking on the door. Clearly, our doorbell wasn't working.
From the stairs, I heard my Mom talking to someone. It was Jackson, obviously. But why would he come to pick me up so early? Was that a habit in Florida?
"Oh, hey."
I slightly slapped my thighs while standing. He was looking even better than yesterday. And somehow, he didn't even have a shirt on. He must have seen how I looked at his body, with a tiny grin on my face.
"Its 113 °F, what do you expect me to wear?!",
He said while laughing. I already knew, we were going to be really close friends.
I giggled.
"Well, I still have my shirt on. Maybe that'll change later."Oh God. I shouldn't have said that. I felt my face getting hotter, as I looked down at the floor. How embarrassing.I saw him smiling smirking, then he laughed. His laugh was so sweet, and again I felt my legs getting all wiggly. " Do you wanna come in?"
"Yeah, it's really warm today. And yeah, sure." He walked in, and a blast of Men's aftershave entered the room.
"Uh, are you ready? I'm sorry I came over so early, but I have to work at my Mom's Café later. I hope you're fine with that?"
"Its totally fine. I was bored anyway, and I can't wait to meet you guys.",
That was a lie, I wasn't bored: Mom's homemade pancakes were literally screaming my name.
But who would decline a guy asking you to go out with him. I won't.
I think I'll never, ever get used to the californian air. Every single time, I feel like a whole summer, full of adventures and love, passes my face. I saw Jackson looking at me.
"So, I asked Chris and Natalie to meet us next to the Thrift Shop in the 58th Ave. Unfortunately, Taylor can't come, she's meeting up with Zac."
Obviously someone was going to be in a relationship.
"And Trish might come as well."
We were waiting for the Bus, when Jack looked at his iPhone and called the girl named Natalie.
"You there?"
I didn't really listen to the rest of the conversation. The only thing I was focusing on was the gorgeous face, of a guy on the other side of the road, who wanted to cross it.
I didn't see that he was actually looking at Jackson. And then, at me.
He walked over the street and greeted Jacks, shaking each others bizeps.
He turned out to be Chris, one of Jackson's friends, and a member of their group.
"You must be Rain!", he smiled and his stunning, ice blue eyes sparkled.
"Hey, yeah that's me. I've heard Jackson has already told you about my arrival?"
"Yes, he did. It's actually exciting to have new people arriving nearby. I only live one block away from you two."
He scratched the back of his head. Although I met him seconds ago, I knew he was one of those guys who see beauty in little things, and have been raised as a real gentleman. He was probably romantic, too. And his dark hair perfectly matched to the blue eyes. A dazzling combination.
"I'm glad we can show you around. You would probably mope around the house otherwise."
I smiled, and he stepped a little closer. I felt my heart skipping a beat for a tiny second.
"Kay guys, I think the bus is about to arrive. "
Quickly, Chris looked at the bus, and seemed to ignore me. As the bus came closer, I noticed him touching my back, querying me to go in. He was so cute.
In the bus, I chose to sit next to Jackson. We talked a little about what we were going to do, I was told we were going to visit the beach market that sells some "cool stuff", as Jackson says. At some points while he talked, I looked over to Chris, noticing, that he was looking at me, the whole, entire time.
Is it strange that, after a single day, I already had so many feelings rushing in me, telling me to love my life and enjoying every second of it? I don't think so.
This was where I belong to.
