— THIRD PERSON —
"why didn't you ever tell us?"
"you had us worried sick!"
"don't you ever think about your parents feelings for once?"
ariana couldn't take it anymore. her parents only cared about themselves. they only waste their precious time on her when something's wrong.
that was how it always was. they couldn't give a single fuck about her unless it affects them.
her chest felt heavy, her breathing ragged.
did anyone even care?
she stood up. "you'll only care about me when i'm dead." she mumbled to them before running to her room, tears falling.
she laid on her bed, thinking through everything.
did her parents even care about her?
what happens when you realize that the people you thought you were closest to don't care about you as much as you thought they did?
the phone ringing on her nightstand interrupted her thoughts.
she leaned over and grabbed it, putting it on her ear.
"hey, ariana?"
she smiled. it was selena.
"hey, sel. what's up?"
"i was wondering if you wanted to go get brunch at a buffet with me."
"yeah, of course. i'll meet you there in an hour."
~time skip~
the girls were currently seated on one of the reserved tables in the vip.
"i really missed you, ari." selena smiled.
"i missed you more, sel. i'm honestly really glad you took me out. let's just say my parents and i aren't really on good terms right now." ariana spoke softly, scratching her neck nervously.
should she tell her about zayn? no, she doesn't want any pity or unneeded sympathy.
"they were mad i was stuck in my room 24/7." ariana lied.
little did ariana know, selena already knew about it all.
~
selena waved goodbye to ariana as she left.
as ariana was about to get up and leave aswell, she noticed someone familiar sitting a few tables away from her, alone.
bieber? alone? who would've guessed?
she decided to say hello, and ask him why he was so mad yesterday.
as she sat down on the chair across from him, he looked up at her confused.
"uh, hey."
really ariana? that's possibly the most awkward way to greet him.
"hi."
silence was all they were given for the next minute or so.
why did she come sit with him? didn't she hate his guts? not to mention his rude outburst the last time they were together.
as though she read his mind, she spoke up, asking, "what was up with you yesterday?"
he froze.
she actually cared?
no, she didn't. she probably wanted to laugh at his face right about now.
"bad memories."
he wanted to end this conversation as fast as possible.
"what were they?"
he sighed. she wasn't gonna let this go.
"fine. i'll tell you, only if you tell me what's up with that zayn guy."
it was silent for a few moments before she responded.
"fine."

his chapped lips moved with every word he spoke.
"she left. just like that. she didn't love me anymore. she set off to find a better prince." he finished, closing his eyes, praying memories of her don't come back.
her soft fingertips moved to grasp his hands.
the thing he didn't expect was that she didn't say sorry.
although he was glad, he wondered why.
as though she read his mind, she whispered, "sorry won't fix or erase anything that happened. i see no point in saying it."
his eyes widened as he looked at her dark brown irises.
it was at that moment he realized they were inches apart.
no. no. no.
justin, you can't fall in love.
he kept repeating those words in his head as he backed away from her slowly.
"if you don't mind me asking, what was her name?"
he gulped. his eyes watered as he looked down, remembering her name. her sweet name that bounced off his lips so softly. the name he can't seem to get out of his head, no matter how hard he tried.
"selena."
