Chapter 15

Audrey's POV

Tears ran down my face. I sat on the cold porch as Max tried to calm me down. I didn't even know why I was crying. Actually I do. Gonzalo slapped me. But why am I crying so hard?

"Audrey, calm down" said Max patting my back. He sat next to me, looking at me. My hands covered my teary eyes and my hair covered my hands.

"Go, away" I saw swatting at his arms. I needed to be alone. Actually I didn't.

"I get it, but don't beat yourself over it okay?" He says getting up. I hear his footsteps walk into the house and he shut the door.

It was quiet, all I could hear is my sniffling and the sound of the wind blowing softly. I wiped my eyes, drying them. I shouldn't be such a crybaby about this. All he did was slap me, he didn't hurt me that much.

I hate him.

I got up from sitting down and I walk to the nearest tree. On the tree was carvings of some words. I couldn't read most of it.

I decided I shouldn't really investigate in it that much since I have better things to do. I fixed my hair up a little bit and walked back to the house. I opened the door and walked inside, closing the door behind me.

Max was weirdly on his bed just staring blankly at the ceiling.

"In 6 days be prepared" he said, then he closed his eyes.
"What?" I say confused.
He didn't answer.
Weird.

I went over to my bed and saw something I thought I would never see.

There laid a katana, and a note.
The katana was silver and shined in the light. The word "Death" was engraved into the handle.

The note said...
"Dear Audrey,
I made a deal to someone you might know,
In 6 days, the last day of your trip...you will be killed. I'm sorry. I didn't want to do this. You have to protect yourself with this katana. You have to meet in the middle of the forest by midnight on the last day, or else your death will be more...quick. You have a chance that you may not be killed but kill your killer. But only time will tell. I'm sorry. In this world. It's kill or be killed. And I'm just doing what I was told"

He didn't answer.
