14: Open challenge

Sheena's POV

The next morning was no different then others, I did my daily chores, slipped into one of the dresses which I have borrowed from Nura and went for practicing on my magic in the training room which Max showed me earlier. 

By thinking about Max, I wonder what happened after we all left Myra and him alone. I wish they are back together, at least start trusting on each other. Frankly speaking, I am sympathized to Max. I mean he had to go through so much. I still remember last night when Myra stormed into our room, she looked disturbed but she avoided me and went straight to sleep. That made me even more curious about last night events. 

As I entered into the training room, I found Amy and Jeremy. Amy was, once again, burning with flames and was flying, she appeared like a chandelier hanging on the ceiling of the room.

Well, that's actually cool....

When I averted my eyes to Jeremy, I found him staring at me. He didn't gave me a disgusted look, he didn't even greeted me with his evil remarks like always. He just looked at me quietly as if thinking about something. He shifted his gaze from me when Amy came down and all her flames died out.

"Isn't that cool, guys???" She gave both of us a toothy grin, showing us how proud she is on herself.

"Cool? Babes you were on fire!" I half joked.

"Yeah, yeah. Why do you have to correct me all the time? Man! It irritates me."

"Oh reall--" Jeremy raised his hand to shush me and looked around.

"Guys, did you hear that?" He asked, his face still showed alertness.

I also tried to concentrate on the noises around us and I realized that some noises is coming from the surface. Suddenly we heard a wolf haul which made Jeremy all the more alert.

"It's Mandy, he is alerting us for the coming danger." Jeremy spoke and ran towards the surface. I and Amy followed him but he asked us to stay near the stairs.

He climbed up the stairs and peeped out side. He then climbed down 2-3 steps,

"Sheena, I guess you need to look at it.." he said sympathetically and again climbed up.

 I and Amy gave each other a look and followed Jeremy. As I walked outside our hiding place, I was welcomed with hard blowing wind and raging thunderstorm. The sky appeared pitch black by the dark clouds covering the entire sky. All the members of the pack came out of the house and were now in their wolf form, led by a grey wolf which I am pretty sure is Mandy.  I had to cover my ears as all the wolfs including Jeremy were hauling, trying to alert everyone. 

By hearing the hauls, Max, Nura, Ralph and Myra came out of the hiding place too. They all had same expression, completely confused. 

"what the hell is going on here??" Amy asked as she tried her best to stand in these hard blowing winds. Then we all heard a laugh crack up from the clouds. I first thought it to be thundering but it was worst than that. 

"Are you all scared?" A voice came among the clouds. Suddenly a face appeared in the sky, that face which I see every night in my dreams but the only difference was those glowing red eyes instead of intense brown ones. "Well, these are just a speak of what I could do...." He said in a very deep, demonic voice. God, what he has done to my Arjun! 

"Sheena, Sheena, Sheena......" James shook his head in disappointment, "I thought you are much smarter, but you proved me wrong. Why are you even with these good-for-nothing people? Was my love had no significance for you?" He made it appear that he is sad but I only how much of a pretender he is.

"I know what you want from me! If you want my soul, then take it, at least leave Arjun!" I screamed.

"Oh, so you know about it. So you are still my smart Sheena.  Anyway, I don't just want your soul Sheena....I want my revenge from you. You killed my Dad, Demitri Dark, if you remember. I want you to feel that agony, that pain which I felt. I know you love Arjun, you love him more than anything in this world so how about I kill him."

"You are not going to do that !!!!" I tried to threaten him. 

"What will you do, huh?" He laughed manically at my helplessness. "But I think I being too harsh on my lady, aren't I? What if we play a game? Just to make it a little fair"

"A game? What game?" I threw a confused look.

"that game which is the only way to save your lover from me. You and your friends have to fight with me and my friends, and I am sure you might already be knowing about them. If you won, I will give your Arjun back but you need to be with me forever and become my supply for soul and If you lose....."

"If I lose then what?" 

"If you lose then I will kill your lover in front of your eyes and all your loved ones--your friends, your family." He gave a look to all my friends with a threatening grin. "But you have a choice, it depends upon you to take this challenge or not. You can right now leave Verena and forget that you once love a person called Arjun. You can forget that you left him for dying because you were a cowered.." 

My heart was beating fast as a sweat broke down from my forehead. My hands were sweaty as if I am having a mini heart attack. 

I know I have to chose between my heart and mind again. My mind screams to leave this and go back to my less painful life, run for my life. But my love-struck heart assures me that I am strong enough to save the only person in my life which means world to me, even if he doesn't love, even if have to keep my family and friends life at stake, even if I won't be able to see him again even if I save him. 

"Sheena, you don't have to listen to him, he is just trying to provoke you." Ralph said from behind.

"We will find some other way to save him. You don't have to take up this challenge Sheena, I don't want my only friend to die while serving her soul to a monster." Amy tried to console me. 

"Amy is right, Sheena. we can find some other way to get Arjun out of the grip of this devil." Nura assured me this time, but now my dam of feelings were overflowing with anger. 

"Do you really think that I have any other chance then this to save Arjun!!!!" I shouted at Nura. I was feeling guilty that I have to behave like this to Nura but I was totally taken over by emotions. Maybe people were correct, emotions our only weakness and our only strength.....we are mere puppets of these stupid emotions. 

 I turned to James who was still grinning at me and shouted with my all might," I accept your challenge James but you have to promise me that you will Arjun for good after that and I promise to become your slave." 

"I never break my promises, Sheena...I will see you tomorrow then. I am so excited to see you a my slave...." With saying that he vaporized and all the winds stopped. The sky was no more pitch black, those dark clouds made way for the sunlight to take it's place. With in seconds everything became normal, as if nothing ever happened here. I could hear some birds chirping, singing their own song in their own language. 

But that storm didn't died out in my heart and mind. I was still feeling devastated about what I have done just now. I put everyone's life in danger, but I had to save Arjun too. I was feeling selfish, mean....

I know I have to win this....not only for Arjun, but for my family, for my friends and for my people. I am ready to give away my body, soul.....whatever he will ask but I will not let him lay a finger my loved one's

That's Sheena's promise.
