Chapter Seventeen:

Difficult Task

I trudged through the day anxious to get home. Ha, home. What a lovely thing to say! Tonight the club was closed, and I really hope Harry isn't busy. I know it would be poisonous to fall even harder for him, or even run the impossible risk of him falling for me, but a huge part of me wants to spend time with him. I could at least attempt to make a friend out of Harry, though he makes it awfully hard with his caring nature and jaw-dropping looks... Emma, stop.

But, really though. I could never see him falling for me. And would I want him to? He is already pulled down by me enough.

Now, my shift was over, it seemed like eternity. I was in Gemma's car, because she offered to drive me to Harry's-- I mean ours. She said needed an excuse to check up in her little brother, but she probably only wanted to tease us.

"So tell me more about this whole ordeal..." She asked me warily. I looked to my friend who was sporting the same drab work uniform I was, but in addition to that was wearing big, bulky, pricey looking sunglasses. It must be nice to be able to afford those sorts of things. I'm not complaining though, my situation just got a whole lot better.

"Do you want the whole story or a simple version? I asked my Gemma, who wasn't slow in her reply.

"Full story." Gem demanded. Who was I to deny?

"Well you know most of it. Harry and some of his friends were all at the club, I sorta ran when I saw him. He followed me and invited me to stay with him." I explained, only giving her the bare minimum. She sort of nodded her head, eyes never leaving the road.

"Harry's a really great guy. Living with him will be interesting for you. He will treat you right, I promise you. And maybe if it would grow to something more than friendship it wouldn't be so bad..." Her voice trailed off at the end. I began to tap my foot nervously and stare up at the sky. This car ride could not go any slower.

"Yeah, it would be bad. I'd just pull him down." I explained slowly and sadly. For once, Gemma didn't say a thing, but instead continued to drive. Less than three minutes later we pulled into the apartment complex that housed Harry and I.

Gem and I both came out of her car and began to head towards the building, both of us still silent. Silence between me and her was pretty rare and didn't happen very often... It was a little awkward and out of the normal. We made our way inside and traveled up the same stairs that I did the night before with Harry. Before I knew it, we were knocking on the door. I looked to Gem who was sporting a plain, emotionless face. What was she thinking about? I'd never know.

"Hey!" Harry exclaimed as he quickly opened the door. He was dressed casually in a t shirt and loose fitting plaid pajama bottoms. A smile decorated his face as he pulled his sister into a tight embrace.

"How's it going, Hazz?" Gemma questioned, but Harry's expression soured up a bit and he began to shake his head.

"Not in front of Emma," he gestured at me subtly. I laughed at this, has he forgotten so soon?

"You've told me about your nickname already, Hazz." I butted it, making sure to put special emphasis on his adorable pet name. Harry's cheeks started to color, but Gemma decided to end the banter, he was only getting embarrassed.

"Let's go inside, yeah? I'll make some snacks." She offered, and with that I was making myself comfortable in my new home along side my definite favorite set of siblings.

...

After some laughs, blush-worthy tales, and desserts Gemma considered 'snacks', my close friend left the apartment, leaving my roomie and I all alone in the dark flat.
