Chapter 19:
I couldn't stop thinking about the dream or about the rude little girl. I hadn't told anyone about the dream. I didn't want to. I didn't understand it all myself, how could someone else?
"Let's do something fun today." I told Garrett over the phone. It was Friday. We'd had a long week.
"What do you want to do?" he asked.
"I don't care."
"Well, why don't you get like an over night bag ready & I'll pick you up in about an hour?"
"An over night bag?"
"Yeah, in case we decide to like get a hotel or something if we go to Columbus. Just grab some pj's & your toiletries. Maybe a couple of outfits. Like one for tomorrow & a backup one."
"Oh, okay. Sounds cool. See you in a little bit. Drive careful."
"Okay. I love you."
"You too."
I touched up my hair & redone my makeup. I packed my bag. I fixed me a slice of toast & grabbed me a banana. I got a glass of milk & sat down on the couch. A few minutes later I heard a car horn. I peeked through the blinds. Garrett's stepdad's truck was loaded down with what looked like a tent & camping supplies. I opened the door & stepped outside.
"What's going on?" I asked laughing. Garrett had Kennedy & Evan with him. They'd been spending an awful lot of time together lately. I figured they'd be a couple by now.
"We're all going camping! Surprise!" Kennedy explained.
"C'mon! It'll take us forever to set up camp & it's already five!" Garrett encouraged.
"Are you sure all I need is like two outfits?" I asked.
"Yeah, we're just staying tonight & tomorrow night." Kennedy explained.
"Oh, okay." I said locking the door. I got in the passenger seat. Kennedy & Evan had gotten in the back.
"So where are we going?" I asked.
"I think we'll go to Stonelick. It's about an hour, hour & a half away." Garrett suggested.
"Yeah, that's fine with me. They have showers, right?" I asked for reassurance. I hadn't been there since I was a kid.
"Yes, they have showers." He said laughing at me.
"Just making sure." I said laughing. Kennedy & Evan were having their own conversation in the back of the truck.
"Hey," Garrett said lowering his voice, "Tonight, after we get everything set up, do you want to go out in a canoe & watch the sunset?"
"I'd love that... I really would." I said smiling.
"Good." He said grabbing my hand. I smiled.

-Kennedy's POV-
"That's not where that goes!!" I yelled at Garrett. He was fumbling around with the poles for the tent & had it completely wrecked.
"Hun, why don't you just let me & Kennedy fix it?" She said walking over putting her hand on his shoulder.
"Because. Evan & I should. We're the guys." He answered stubbornly.
"But," Then she turned her back to us & said something. I thought I'd heard canoe in there somewhere.
"Fine, okay." He said rolling his eyes.
We had both tents up in about ten minutes. Hannah & I would be sleeping in one & Evan & Garrett in the other.
"Okay, well. It's about 8:00. I think I'm going to grab my vest & Garrett & I are going to get a canoe." Hannah explained.
"Okay. Have fun guys." Evan said waving as they walked off.
"So what are we going to do?" Evan asked.
"I don't care?" I said hoping he'd suggest something.
"Well we could take a walk by the lake?"
"Yeah, sure."
I grabbed my bag & my jacket from inside the tent.
"Okay, I'm ready if you are." I said stepping out of our tent.
"Alrighty."
"So, you said you're thinking about going to OSU this fall right?" I asked him.
"Yeah, it's were all of my family went. I don't really feel like being the black sheep for breaking tradition."
"I understand."
"You said you're going to Marshall right?"
"Yeah. Unfortunately. All of you guys are staying close to home. It's going to stink being so far apart."
"I know.... But we still have all of next month.. And the summer."
"I guess." We were coming up on the lake.
"You'll be back often though right?" He asked as we walked up on the lake.
"As often as I can. I just don't know how often that'll be."
"We'll have to do something else big before we all leave."
"That'd be good."
"So, how's that one guy you were telling me about? I think you said he was from Unioto?"
"He turned to be a weirdo. That was months ago though. How are things with... what's her name?... Emily?"
"We only went out on a couple of dates but things just weren't working. She was way to clingy already." He explained further.
"So have you went out with anyone else?" I asked curiously.
"Nope. Notta."
"Me either."
"Well....."
"Well what...?"
"Why don't you & I do something? We spend enough time together as it is? It wouldn't have to be a 'date' unless you want it too? I mean I just thought that-"
"I'd love to." I said cutting him off. He rambled when he was nervous.
"Okay, great." He said smiling.
We walked in a comfortable silence for a little while.
"Have you noticed something different about Hannah?" I asked.
"Yeah! I thought it was just me!" He agreed. "Garrett said they ran into some girl at the movies who made her cry or something? did she say anything to you?"
"Nothing! that's weird. I'm usually the first to know anything..."
