Chapter 14:

I left the airport with Kennedy. Tears streamed down my face. I could barely see. I turned on the radio. The weather wasn't too good for today. I was worried.

"You okay?" Kennedy asked at a red light.

"No." I answered sobbing.

"Pull over. I'll drive." She offered.

"Okay."

I pulled over & let her drive. I slept all the way back to the house. Kennedy came in. She had been staying at Dad's with me while he was on vacation for the next few weeks.

I flipped on the tv. Channel four news.

"Reporting to you live I'm Colleen Marshall. This just in. Flight 437 out of Atlantic City has crashed. Not soon after the take off the plane they hit turbulence & went down about 15 miles off of the coast. The crash was too harsh & said to have been fatal. No one has said to have lived yet. Unfortunately, famous boy band One Direction was on the plane," was the first thing I heard. I zoned out after that.

I was pouring Kennedy & I something to drink. I dropped the glass. I was speechless, as was Kennedy.

"Did she just say what I think she said?" I asked.

"I think so...." Kennedy said.

"There's no way..." I said in disbelief.

"It can't be....." Kennedy said tearing up.

I fell to my knees.

"But we just? I just?" I said shocked. My eyes filled with tears. It was like someone had ripped out my whole heart. Like part of me was missing. I started sobbing. I couldn't hear Kennedy anymore. I couldn't see because of the tears. All I could hear was my heart beating & Niall's voice saying, "I love you more than anything." As he turned away to leave. I could still feel him. I'd just seen him hours ago? How could this happen? It was my dream. Just like my dream. I sobbed louder. I felt someone crouch down beside of me. I figured Sarah or Kennedy. Whoever it was put their arm around my shoulder & I really gave in. It wasn't Kennedy or Sarah. I was sure. They wrapped both arms around me & held me while I cried. I didn't care who it was. They were here for me, holding me, & letting me scream & snot & sob without judging me. They scooted me over closer to the stove.

I looked up, wiped the tears away for a split second just to recognize a pair of green eyes I hadn't seen for far too long.

-Garrett's POV-

I was sitting on the couch on my laptop writing a paper for English. My mom was on the other end of the couch watching the news. I really hadn't been paying attention.

"Her big green eyes stared up at me & I knew I had to help." Was the sentence I typed before I heard the newscaster say "One Direction". It was a story about a guy who meets the "new girl" & she needs his help with something but can't say what. It's about trust & all that fun mushy stuff.

"What did that say?" I asked Mom just curious.

"That boy band, with that boy Hannah's with, was in a fatal plane crash & it says no one survived...." She said looking sympathetic, more like she was about to cry.

Hannah. Crap. Hannah. I hadn't talked to her since that party just a few words here & there but nothing special. Not like we used to.

"Garrett. I know you two haven't been on the best terms lately-" I cut her off there.
