"STOP RIGHT THERE JASPER!"

i screamed. he smirked evilly, holding xavier's pumpkin pie with whipped cream. i run to one side of the kitchens marble counter, him following me in sync.

"no where to run, princess."

he growls. i blush as his accent rolls off his tongue so effortlessly. i take a run for it to the main door, but immediately meet pie-to-face with jasper collapsing on top of me. i wheeze jokingly, signaling that he weighed a ton.

"hey, hey, hey i'm not that heavy pretty p."

he chuckles, rolling off of me. he stands up, as i laugh, wiping off the cream on my body, and face. his pearly white smile shines as he holds his hand out to me. i take it sticking out my tongue, he sticks his out as well. we're so childish.

"what is this mess?"

i hear a stern voice say from behind me, and jasper. way to kill the mood..

"we'll clean it up, relax dad."

"it's daddy first off. second off, if you've made this mess already. why aren't you already cleaning it up now?"

he corrects me, and lectures. i blush, jasper coughs awkwardly, he walks away to the kitchen. probably fetching materials to clean. i roll my eyes. shawn crosses his arms over his chest, waiting for jasper to come back.

"why are you here? can't you just leave? we're happy."

shawn shakes his head. he looked somewhat different as if sad.. hurt even.

"no can do, princess."

"you're no fun. too strict. too boring. too uptight."

i sassily say. shawn raises his eyebrows, amused.

"honey, it's meant to be that way. it keeps you in your place, and is better for you. believe me, i'm not always like this, paulina."

this time i raise my eyebrows.

"you're kidding right? how are your rules any good?"

he rubs his temples. before he can continue, jasper enters the room with the cleaning supplies. i take a few sponges out of his hand and begin scrubbing the marble floor. he sits beside me, he plays music on his phone as we scrub together. i smile at him, he returns the favor.

"um, excuse me?"

i scowl.

"hello, we're trying to clean. leave."

shawn huffs.

"i just wanted to ask you what time you wanted to go get sized, and choose your wedding dress. but hey, i'll just let my mother choose."

he starts walking off fast. i jump up, my eyes widening. i've always wanted to pick my wedding dress.

"what! wait,"

i apologize for jasper having to clean up the rest.

"hey, don't worry. i'll be fine. go and find your dream dress, you deserve it."

i smile at his kind words. shawn stops to wait for me as i have a sad face taking his hand. he holds mine guilty while we walk to his white ferrari. it was the afternoon as we arrive to a wedding store.

"everything is so elegant here."

i gasp, seeing gowns and sparkly rhinestones on about everything inside this store. it seemed so expensive walking in this shop. shawn whispers under his breath.

"yeah, besides you."

i glare at shawn. he puts his hands up in surrender. i roll my eyes continuing down the shop.

"hello!"

i'm greeted by a blonde woman, mid-20's i'd say. roxy.

"hello."

i politely greet her. shawn holds my hand, nodding to the kind woman assisting us.

"need any help with anything, ma'am?"

i nod my head.

"my mother is supposed to be here, karen mendes ring a bell?"

shawn speaks over me. roxy's eyes widen in shock, she immediately bows to us both.

"oh, you must be mr. and mrs. mendes! here, right this way, sir."

she begins walking to the fitting rooms where a young, brunette-ginger haired woman sat. she looked old enough to be a mother, but younger than 40's. she see's us both enter, i back away from shawn as she hugs him. i smile, seeing the bond shawn has with his mother. instantly she comes to me with her affection.

"i'm sorry about everything that's happened, paulina. your mother and i were just afraid of what would happen if you were married to the wrong hands."

i nodded. i couldn't change anything, and she shouldn't apologize. this is how my life will be like for the rest of my life, just gotta suck it up. i walk to the racks of dresses i see as i entered the fitting room area. all of them were my kind of style—but how?

"i chose the dresses while you were with jasper. since i knew what you loved and disliked i thought narrowing it down would be easier."

shawn says. i stare at him, thankful.

"thank you, shawn."

he nods, smiling softly.

"no biggie."

i try on a few. most of them looked great, but one stood out to me the most. i smooth down the dress on my body before opening my fitting room door, and revealing the dress. shawns face lit up. karens in tears.

"well, what do you guys think?"

i nervously say. i twirl in the mirror, the dress i chose was a strapless, satin finish, with diamonds in the seam detail around my waist. it hugged my body nicely. i wanted my dress to be simple.

"you look beautiful, paulina!"

karen fans her face to help her with her tears. i smile big, walking over to her. i rub her back in comfort.

"thank you, karen."

once she's gotten a hold of herself, i walk back up to the alter. now his opinion.

"now what do you think?"

shawn stares at me in awe. his eyes moving from my feet all the way up. i had my hair tied in a sleek bun which made me look like i was really going to get married. he sighed, his eyes filled with warmth.

"you look like my wife, paulina. the way you look right now is ineffable— i simply cannot just put this into words. that's what i think."
