10 DAYS (Vixx Fanfic)

3 Days until Shutdown

Haekyeon opens his eyes and sees Kaylin sleeping peacefully beside him. He traces his finger down her shoulder and her arm, frowning when he reaches the chafed skin of her wrist. He knew it didn't hurt her, but he was still angry it was there. He remembers the day before, when it had happened.

*Flashback*
Subject 3's fingers were moving.

"Jaehwan, you better come see this!" Haekyeon calls, joy filling his voice. Jaehwan whirls and sprints over.

"We did it, WE DID IT!" Jaehwan cries, and pulls Haekyeon in for a hug, "All that's left is for them to wake up, walk around a bit, and we're done!"

"We'll get to continue the project and soon, everyone will be half robot," Taekwoon says softly, moving closer to them. He gives a small smile.

"And we have these two to thank!" Jaehwan exclaims, pointing at the two cyborgs hiding in the shadows. He approaches them swiftly, "You both can agree on a reward I assume. Tell me what you want."

Kaylin and Subject 1 exchange a look before Subject 1 blurts, "Freedom, even if it's only for a small while. Please?"

Jaehwan's eyes narrow, "What kind of freedom?"

"Just to go outside and bask in the sun," Kaylin answers quickly, then glances at him. Haekyeon looks at her, there was something in her eyes that said she wanted him with her.

"Hm, I suppose it's possible," Jaehwan mutters, then turns, "Would you two be willing to watch them now while I call the department."

Haekyeon nods quickly, runs over and grabs Kaylin's hand.

"I'll watch her!" He announces and, ignoring the death glares Taekwoon is giving him, grabs a set of handcuffs, put them on her, and pull her to the nearest opening.

"You ready?" He asks.

She nods eagerly and he swings the door open. She takes slow steps forward, seeming to take it all in. She lays down on the ground and tilts her head to the sky. He chuckles slightly, but stops when he sees her pat the ground next to him.

"Lay here with me," she begs.

"Why?" He asks nervously.

"I like having you near," she mumbles.

He rubs the nape of his neck and obeys her. He feels himself hardening once again and tries to distract himself. The sun feels good, he can see why she missed it.

"N, if I tell you something totally stupid, would you judge me?" She asks suddenly.

"I'd try not to, what is it?"

"I'd think I like you. More than a friend," she whispers.

That was all he needed to hear. He rolls on top of her and holds her chained wrists above her head.

"Is this okay?" He asks her before he unzips his pants, she shakes her head.

"Not here," she answers softly, "Too many could see."

"Can we go to my room then," he asks desperately, she nods.

"Just a few more moments please."

He nods and gets off, waiting until she lets him know she's ready. She gets up and follows him in. When they get to his room, he slams the door closed. Before he can even unlock her wrists, she begins to attack him. He pushes her back onto the bed and climbs on top. He throws off her and his clothes and settles himself above her.

"Last chance to back out," he whispers in her ear, then nibbles at it. She gasps and digs her nails into his back. That was all he needed.

*End of Flashback*

He tucks her hair behind her ear, waking her up. She looks at him sleepily and yawns.

"What's wrong?" She mumbles, he leans over and kisses her forehead.

"Nothing, he murmurs into her hair, "Go back to sleep."

She nods and yawns again, closing her eyes. He follows her in suite and drifts into a deep slumber.

Kaylin and Haekyeon finally get up and go to the lab to work on the newly developed mechanical beings. Jaehwan wasn't there, Haekyeon notices, but shrugs it off. After a few hours, Haekyeon freezes.

"Next I will show you where the now functional cyborgs Subject 2 and 3 are stored."

Haekyeon pushes Kaylin behind him when he hears Jaehwan's voice. The department members came sooner than he expected. He looks around for a place to hide, he can hear their footsteps coming closer.

Taekwoon grabs her wrist and pushes her into Hongbin's storage container.

"Keep her hidden," he hisses, Haekyeon turns around to see Hongbin nod and step in front of her.

"Here we are!" Jaehwan announces, pushing the door open to reveal curious scientists, "The one on the left table is Subject 2. The one on the right table is Subject 3."

Haekyeon goes up to Jaehwan.

"You has to bring them here without warning?" He hisses quietly.

Jaehwan glances at him, "What are you talking about? They needed to come without delay, it's almost midnight and then we'd only have one day to fix any mistakes."

"You should've warned me, Kaylin is in here."

Jaehwan raises his eyebrows, "You mean was?"

Haekyeon shakes his head, Jaehwan's face fills with worry and anxiety.

"She's still in here?!" He whisper screams, earning glances and glares from the scientists examining Wonshik and Sanghyuk."

Haekyeon nods, "She's hidden in Hongbin's chamber. So we have to keep them away from him."

"Easier said than done," Jaehwan answers, "Wait for my signal then get her the hell out of here."

"Okay."

Jaehwan walks away and starts explaining different details to the scientists. When he has their attention, he gives a small nod in Haekyeon's direction.

Haekyeon silently creeps over to Hongbin's chamber and reaches behind him, grabbing Kaylin's wrist and pulling her out.

"Come on," he breathes, she nods and follows him.

He sneaks, dragging her behind him, out of the lab and back to her room.

"N, what's going on?" She asks when he roughly pushes her into her glass cage. He clicks a hidden button on the glass wall and the walls become tinted.

"None of those men and women can know you exist," he tells her harshly.

"Why not?"

"Because you're not supposed to exist!" He yells, "You were an illegal experiment!"

"I knew you were hiding something," a female voice says. But it's not Kaylin's.

The clock strikes midnight.
