"For heaven's sake!"
I did it again. For the 6th time. If you ever saw me you'd probably comment that my face had a rectangular-shaped swollen bruise on my cheek.
That's because I kept on dropping my pointlessly big phone on my face.
A week has passed since we comnected with Zaya lé Mara and in that week, I got closer with Christian. But he had work to do, so I was left alone. And I was quite relaxed when nobody in particular gave even the slightest tap.
Until now.
I breathed deeply, looking for the usual comfort my bed gives me everytime we are in contact.
0**********: Hey, Violet. It's Zach the douche.
09:24 A.M.
He knew my phone number- when I haven't given it to him.
What sort of sorcery is happening?
After a few minutes tangled in confusion and perplexion, I decided to ask him:
How'd you get my no.?
Because of course, you have to ask first before you can conclude that the person is most likely a part of a Voodoo Clan. Not a minute has passed when he replied.
Z: Your mom gave it to my mom's assistant
V: Wtf?
Z: Um, wedding plans?
V: How do you know about that?
V: I KNEW IT YOU'RE A VOODOO YOU JERK
It could also explain the weird favor of Emily, right?
Z: Um no. It's called my mom owns Zaya lé Mara...?
Okay, passengers. It's okay to take your seatbelts off.
Arriving destination: Could I Get More Stupid Land in a few seconds.
Z: It should've been obvious just by the name.
V: Ugh po-te-yto, po-tuh-to.
Z: You still hate me. :(
V: Is it obvious?
Z: Can I call you?
V: No.
But alas, he never understood how busy I was (too busy lazing around) so he called me. I picked up, being the beeyotch I am.
"I said you can't. I'm busy."
"Why'd you pick up then?"
"Because I know you wouldn't stop bothering me."
"Aw, cute. You still know me," he laughed through the phone.
His nerve is a whacking one, jeez.
"Shut up, Menzies."
"I actually want to uh, catch up with you again... you know. Can you meet me in our resto? I mean, if it doesn't trouble you. But of course it does."
I pursed my lips.
I felt like... if I don't accept it, I'll be forever carrying the burden around me. Everyone deserves a chance. And he already gave the answer to most of my questions.
So, why not?
"You still there?", he sighed, "Great. I messed it up again."
"No, it's fine. I'll see you there in twenty minutes."
"Oh, wow. The perks of the Zachary charisma."
"Sure, whatever makes your boat float."
Twenty minutes later as promised, there I was in the place where I used to despise a few moments ago. Talking to the person I despised a few moments ago.
"Don't you look dashing?", he greeted with a happy smile.
I played with the hem of my bag, not daring to look at those beautiful blue eyes. If I did look straight and I wasn't ready, I would have the capacity to run from Italy to America in a snap.
"Why am I even here?", I murmured to myself.
"I won't waste this chance, Violet Ellison. I'll be your friend. No matter what happens. To make it up to you.
I promise."That was the only thing I needed to hear and soon, we were chirping each other like we'd known each other our whole life (because we do, to be honest).
He told about his first days as the owner of Bona Fidé- when he mistook a 50-cent coin for a 20 and a customer once babbled at him in french.
It was a good laugh, in fact, part of me made me wish I was there to record the whole thing. And I felt at home with his gentle eyes.
He told the trainee waiter to get us two cups of frappe, while we continued to update each other's life.
"... so then after that, my dad told me he partnered with the Louises."
His ear-to-ear smile faltered.
"I-is something wrong?", I didn't know anything else to be but curious. Was he jealous? Did he secretly hate their inventory or something?"
"Nothing." Now there wasn't even a smile anymore- nor a spark in those eyes.
"Tell me, please." I grabbed his arm friendly, gesturing for him to confess.
"Remember when I told you... that, someone tried to buy this place?"
I nodded, listening intently as I expected it to end badly.
"And my grandfather died defending his only treasure?"
All I could do was nod. It would've been rude to comment at that time, if you were in my shoes.
"Albert Louis, you're future father-in-law... he was the one who tried to buy Bona Fidé Delicatesse."

A/N:
VERY LATE UPDATE :( I'm so sorry. I was too busy with school since it started and all, and we went to Australia for two weeks.
I had to survive with my phone's battery empty for 2 WEEKS.
Anyway, it's a privilege to do Doll Eyes again! Hope you enjoyed this! :) Again, I'm sorry.
