• Eww, just read my last chapter. It sucks, I hate it so much that I despise it. Well enjoy the next chapter. Or you know...don't. Whichever your feelings prefer. •

I continue to walk down the snowy path. I feel like I've been walking for hours and the tracks following towards town at beginning to be covered with fresh snow.

My legs hurt and I feet are freezing and beginning to burn. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm getting frost bite at the moment. It's nearly dark and I can see little dots of light coming into view, behind a group of trees. I reach the trees and stop.

My shoes are sprinkled with snow and my hat begins to feel heavy. I pull it off letting the freezing air hit my ears. In an instant I can tell they are red. Shaking the snow off my hat I pull it over my head, covering my ears entirely. I dust off my scarf, finding a stump i sit down and huff into my hands, rubbing them together and on my arms to try to get warm.

"Camille?"

My heart completely stops, my mind instantly remembers the voice and the owner of it. I slowly turn around to see a pair of green eyes looking at me with concern.

"Devon, what are you doing here? Better yet, how did you even find me?" I roll my eyes and turn back around continuing to warm myself up.

"You left, you didn't actually think you could get away without John noticing?" The words spit harshly out of his mouth. I cringe at the way he said it.

"So, what if I did? A girl can dream." I mumble.

His hand firmly grips my arm and I wince at the pain shooting through my arm. "Hey! Get off me! What's wrong with you?!" I swat at his arm but his hand doesn't budge.

"Your parents, they want you home." He frowns lightly.

"No, my parents are dead. Those crazy people who kidnapped me, their monsters. And that place you may call home? That is not my home. That is hell, a place I never thought I would end up." I frown and rip my arm out of his grip to both of our surprise.

He shrugs and sits next to me. Wrapping his arm around me in reassurance. "I know, I can't force you to do anything you don't want to do." I look at him and raise an eyebrow at his sudden change in heart. He just shrugs again.

"Thank you." I reply looking back forward. I notice a piece of snow fall onto the ground. I feel a slight tug on my hair as Devon plays with small strands. I ignore his hand and look at him.

"You're staying, with me?" I ask.

He chews on the inside of his cheek as if he were thinking about it.

"Sure. Why not? I'm not letting you go by yourself and if, or when your parents find us I can protect you." He smiles. I return the smile and lean into him. He kisses my forehead as I begin to think of the long journey ahead.
