Chapter 9: All the best people are freaks
Demi's P.O.V
A few weeks had past and we were going out for Dallas's birthday. I had debated on whether or not I should go because my mum was going to be there but I knew Dallas really wanted me to be there so I was going for her.
Aimee came downstairs a minute later wearing a shirt and a pair of shorts. She looked smart and presentable but she was also comfortable at the same time. I had really tried not to push her so much with her clothes.
"Mummy are you sure it's okay for me to wear this?" Aimee asked me as she came towards me. I nodded my head as I pulled her into a hug.
"As long as it doesn't set off your sensory problems then I'm good. Have you got your glasses with you?" Aimee nodded her head at me.
"Come on then let's do your hair." I told her. She started to back away from me anxiously. "Don't worry Daddy's shown me how to do it." I reassured her a minute later.
Aimee slowly came towards me and sat down in front of me. I gently brushed Aimee's hair until all the 'spiders' were out and it was tied back.
"Come on then let's get your shoes on." I said to her as soon as I was finished with her hair. Elizabeth slipped into the room a minute later. She was wearing a dress and caked in make up.
I groaned as Sophie came into the room looking like a clown. "Sophie...Do you have to look like you are about to do a clown act any minute now and why is Elizabeth caked in make up? She's five years old!" I scolded
Mackenzie came into the room. "I told you Soph. Clown looks don't suit you although I don't think clowns wear that much make up." Sophie glared at Mackenzie a second later.
"Just because you are a Tom boy and want to look like a boy doesn't mean that I'm a clown because I wear make up!" Sophie snapped at her.
"I guess you are right. You look more like a rag doll." Mackenzie replied a minute later.
"Just because Joshua likes the fake look doesn't mean it looks good. I mean you have seen the girls he's dated." Mackenzie continued.
"Who's Joshua?" Alex asked as he came into the room.
"No one..." Sophie trailed off.
"Sophie's boyfriend." Mackenzie chipped in
"You are way too young to have a boyfriend Sophie. You are thirteen." Alex reminded her.
"I'm nearly fourteen! I'm a teenager dad! I can have a boyfriend if I want." Sophie replied to him.
"Fine. Then I can break his legs and set him on fire if I want to." Alex responded making me laugh. Sophie turned to glare at me.
"Daaad." Sophie whined one second later
"Sophieeee." Alex said copying Sophie's tone of voice.
"Remind me to tell dad the second you have a boyfriend." Sophie said to Mackenzie before she stormed out of the front room a second later.
"You are going to have to wait a long time for me to get a boyfriend Sophie." Mac replied to her.
"Boys are gross." Mackenzie added more quietly.
Alex went up to her and pulled her into a hug before he high fived her. "That's my girl." He said a minute later as he pulled away.
(30 minutes later)
Dallas squealed as soon as she saw us coming towards her. She pulled me into a hug as soon as she reached me. "I'm so happy you could make it Dems." She said as she pulled away.
Mum scoffed as soon as she saw what Aimee was wearing. "what are you a boy now Aimee?" Mum asked her a second later
"I think she looks nice mum and why don't you worry about your own clothes. You look like you are about to go to a strip club not a family dinner." Dallas responded a second later.
"What's a strip club?" Aimee asked me innocently.
I shot Dallas a look before I knelt down to her level. "I'll explain it when you are older Aimee." I told her as I lifted her into my arms.
"Okay." Aimee shrugged as we went inside and waited for a table. As soon as one was available we were seated. I passed Aimee her glasses.
"Why is she wearing those indoors?" Mum asked me.
"Because she wants to and if you have a problem with it then you can shut your mouth and keep quiet." I replied to her a minute later.
"She shouldn't be wearing sunglasses indoors! It's not normal." Mum replied to me. "She needs to be checked out by a specialist."
"She has been visiting a specialist and she has been diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder but I think you should be checked out by a specialist because your level of ignorance isn't normal." I retorted before I helped Aimee with her glasses.
I passed Aimee her chew a minute later so she could chew on it if she needed to. Mum laughed at her. "Are you a dog now? Only dogs have chews." Mum sneered. Aimee looked at her.
"Woof woof." She replied to my mum making us all laugh.
"Stop that this minute." Mum ordered her
"But you just called me a dog. A dogs bark Nana."
"Yes and dogs are more well behaved then you are, you spoilt little brat." Nana snapped at her.
I was about to say something when Mac chipped in.
"Takes one to know one Nana." Mac told her.
Mum turned around to glare at Mac. "Well aren't you just a little freak?" Nana said to her.
Mac smiled at her sarcastically. "Yes, Nana yes I am. But all the best people are." Mac retorted.
"And I'd rather be a freak then an ignorant old lady who thinks it's acceptable to call their grandchildren names and hit them when no one else is watching."
Me and Alex turned towards my mum a second later.
Authors Note:
Damn!
So I need some ideas for some moment between some characters.
Alex and Aimee
Mac and Aimee
Demi and Aimee
Also would you like Elizabeth and Sophie to make more of an appearance?
Should Demi and Alex get married?
Should I kick 'Nana' aka Diana out of the story completely? Maybe I could kill her off...I've not done that in any of my books yet.
Also Alex's parents. What do you think their reaction is going to be to Aimee and Mackenzie having special needs?
Also (for later in this book) should Demi get pregnant again or not? (Just with one child though. I don't think they could cope with having another set of twins or triplets...)
