Jay's POV
It was a Friday I believe and I was sitting at lunch with my obnoxious friends, listening them talk about porn. I personally didn't watch it because I didn't feel the need too. I'm normally too busy with actual 3-dimensional women to bother to masturbate in my bedroom all day.
"Yo Jay.. what are you looking at?" Jeremy interjected, noticing how I wasn't listening to them shamelessly describe their favorite filthy videos that they felt the need the share while people are clearly at the lunchtable eating. I mean I don't mind hearing about all of the freaky shit that those girls are willing to do, but I do mind other people around us, unlike them.
"I'm staring into space, problem?" I looked at Jeremy, cocking an eyebrow, questioninly.
"No, it just looked like you were staring at that faggot, Ryan over there." he gestured his head toward the gay kid sitting at the table across from us. I honestly hadn't noticed him, I was just thinking. Ryan was in the midst of some other kids whom he wasn't talking to. I didn't know if he knew them or not but he was just eating his lunch, looking down and minding his own business.
Jeremy's pointing out of Ryan caused the other guys to notice him and they started laughing immediately, looking towards him.
"That kid is so gay!" Ethan, eversothoughtfully, felt the need to add.
"He doesn't really act like it..." I murmured, taking a bite out of my pizza.
Ethan snorted. "Man whatever! He stares at all the guys like it's his business, and when dudes say anything to him he freezes up and stammers like a female. And besides do you see the way he dresses?"
I looked Ryan over. "His clothes doesn't scream flamboyant to me. Maybe his jeans are a little tight but whatever. And he could be stammering because he's just shy. I'm just saying, it that girl hadn't have told everyone and he hadn't have come clean, I wouldn't know.." I don't really like it when kids get picked on, so I felt the need to defend him a little.
Ethan just shook his head at me and directed hs attention at poor, defenseless Ryan who was still looking down, eating. "RYAN! Hey Ryan!" Ethan's voice boomed, I'm surprised the whole cafetria didn't go silent. More so relived though, them picking on Ryan in front of everyone would have been really embarrassing for him.
Ryan looked up, startled, with big, blue eyes. Ethan then took this oppurtunity to chuck his banana at Ryan's face. It hit Ryan in the eye, but he seemed unharmed. "Just leave me alone.." he murmured under his breath. I knew Ethan was just going to take that as back talk.
Ethan mockingly heald a hand up to his ear. "What? What was that bitch? Did you say something? Or are you too scared to speak more clearly?"
Ryan took a big sigh and went back to eating his food. Ethan didn't like this very much, he got up and got in his face. By this time the whole cafeteria was looking, except for the teachers, as it always is. Ugh, Ethan just loves attention, doesn't he. It's really irritating. "I said what did you say?"
Ryan looked scared and lost. I feel for him, he seems to be a gently person who doesn't do well in altercations. People should just accept that he's a sensitive guy and stop calling him out for it. Everyone's different, except most people try to mask their differences by putting on a front. At least the popular people that I know seem to.
"Okay, I see you don't wanna talk. Why don't I just teach you a little lesson for not answering me when I'm speaking to you?" Ethan then took Ryan's lunch tray and dumped all of it's contents onto Ryan's head, spaghetti covering Ryan. Ryan looked defeated, well was defeated. I heard gasps from the girls and awkwards silence. Ryan got up to run out but slipped on some of spaghetti and fell onto his butt. It was then when the cafetria erupted into laughter and I shook my head with pity.
Ryan quickly got back up with tears in his eyes and strided out of the cafeteria. Everyone was recovering from their laughter and that's when Ethan sat back down at our table, seemingly proud of himself. I was glaring at him.
"What?!" he snapped.
"You shouldn't have done that.." I said shaking my head.
"And why n-" was all he could say when the principle, Mr. Greer, placed a hand on his shoulder telling him to come with him.
"That's why." I replied, nonchalantely. Getting up from my table as he left.
"Where are you going?" Jeremy and the other guys asked.
"I gotta pee" I told them, but i was really going to find Ryan to see if he's okay. They gave their nods and see you's and I was on my way. I searched in both of the boy's bathrooms assuming he was cleaning himself up, but had no success. I then figured that he was in one of the staff's bathrooms, seeing as they are private and he might be embarrassed to have someone walk in on him and maybe laugh or stare, reminded of the cafeteria incident.
I knocked on the first staff bathroom door that I saw, and I heard Ryan's voice from the other side call out "Taken," so I walked right in. Surprisingly enough, he had forgotten to lock the door.
Ryan jumped. "I said I'm in-" he started, but stopped midsentence when he saw who it was. He was in the middle of wiping face with a damp papertowel when I entered. He backed himself into the wall. "Wh-what do you want?" I saw fear in his eyes. "Did Ethen send you in here to drag me out and humiliate me some more?"
I chuckled and shook my head. "No I think he's being suspended as we speak." I gave him an assuring smile.
"I hope expelled.." RYan murmured, before noticing what he was saying alound apperantly because he widened his eyes and said, "I'm sorry. I know he's your friend, but-"
I smiled a little and put my hand up. "No worries, I hope he does too. He needs a reality check that not everything revolves around him. And he can't just go around hurting people and expect good things to happen to him in return like he's invinsible or something. I actually came to check on you. You know, see if you're alright."
Ryan looked puzzled this and blushed. "Uh-um well... thank you for checking up on me. Much appreciated. I'm fine, it happens all the time. I'm used to it. But really, thanks."
I raised my eyebrows at him. "Really? You didn't seem like you were fine. I saw you about to cry.."
Ryan looked down, shyly, and shrugged. "Really, I am. It just kind of hurted to picked on like that. But it always will, there's nothing I can do about any of it. But it won't last forever I suppose." He was blushing even more.
"Well here let me help you." I said, stepping forward and taking the wet paper towel from his hand. I began wiping his face with it, gettin the rest of the tomato sauce off, and then moving towards his shirt.
His big blue eyes were just staring at me with wonder. I couldn't help but smile gently at him as I cleaned him off. When I had done all I could do, becasue there were still some stains on his clothes, I threw the paper towel away and stepped back. He was just staring at me the whole time, his face red with embarrassment.
"Th-thanks, Jay. You're really a good guy. I think I was wrong about you."
"No problem really. I wouldn't have been able to sleep to night if i hadn't have helped some kind of way. And what? What did you think of me before?"
"I thought you were an asshole like the rest of those guys.. your friends."
"well I'm not like them. I don't take pleasure in other people's harm.." I said about to leave. "See you around Ryan."
"Thanks again!" RYan called out as I was closing the door. As I turned around I ran into Gabe, one of my teammates on the football team. It seemed as though he had just been standing there the whole time.
He looked at me weirdly. "What were you doing in the bathroom alone with the gay kid?"
