8. A good explanation.... Maybe

"We live here and have for years. We've never had a problem with anyone but the pack here before. In all our years we've never even met one of your kind before. Surely we  can figure something out and get to understand each other" Carlise was completely calm as he spoke.

Jace looked doubtfully at him. "Surely the voluturi would have mentioned us! We spent all that time working with them in Rome... Shame to see that go to waste"

The vampires didn't take that very well. Edward got into an even more protective stance and others snarled at the Angel Blooded. Alice started clutching her head as if to allude one to think she had a headache. The people outside of her family ignored this as they thought she couldn't Have a headache, but those in her family assumed she had a vision. Edward shot her a perplexed look as to ask her about it.

Percy and Annabeth stood talking in rapid Greek and Latin outside of the main conversation. More so Annabeth talking and Percy listening, but  a conversation ever so. They just let Clary and Jace take over talking to the Cullens. Annabeth had seen something red move in the woods, and the flashback earlier still needed to be discussed.

"What's the voluturi?" Bella asked.  She was left out of the loop more than the others had realized. The way Annabeth described her Clary thought she was a subjugate. Her seemingly utter and unhealthy dependence on Edward was an obvious sign. However, Annabeth said there was something funny about the guys on the reservation and her. Maybe it was just some sick masochitic love triangle. Bet she had feelings for one of the wolves too. Nothing ironic there. Clary mused at what her human friends thought Edward was. Bella's question was ignored in the meanwhile  by Carlise,  "They seemed to have failed to mention you. Perhaps I have met your kind over the years. Care to explain what you are? Or rather, why your friend here wants us documented?"

" We're nephiluim.  I'm sure one of you is well versed on your mythology enough to know what that means. Our alliance with your brethren and the other downworlders includes the strict documentation of clans and your kind to make sure you don't break the accords. Over more recent years, we've come to find out about your subset of vampirism and have start the appropriate documentation. The voluturi have been helpful towards us and have since received compensation. However, they failed to mention your existence and the existence of the many vampires in Seattle. Your turn" Clary said  in monotone fashion.

It was getting incredibly boring dealing with docile vampires when she was worried about how the institute was running. Mayrise had experience running the institute but some of Clary's new runes might have confused her. She had forgotten to tell her about some of them and the results could be disastrous. If Magnus and Alec stopped by their kids could get accidentally covered in chicken feathers! Now that was one she didn't want to have to explain....
