Chapter 3

No POV

Jack and Mark walked down the the guidance counselor first to get Mark's schedule. To their luck, they had the majority of classes together.

"Let's see... We have half the classes together, and the other classes I can show you the way!" Jack smiled at Mark, handing over the schedule. "Come on let's go!" He said, walking down the hall with Mark directly next to him, "We have about 20 minutes for a tour, so I'll just show you the basics stuff. " he said, showing Mark the way. "First we'll take you to your locker. Unfortunately it's not close to mine," he murmured the last part, "There a few passing periods, so I would just keep anything you need for the first half of the day. " he said, rambling on. Taking him to his locker, he let Mark put in the combination and out some stuff in it. Afterwards Jack took Mark to his own locker to put some things in, and take things out. A note was on it it read:

Jack sighed, ripping the note off and crumbling it up

Jack sighed, ripping the note off and crumbling it up. Throwing it in his locker.
Mark didn't say anything, he didn't want to pry too much into the other's business.
Once the locker was closed, Jack motioned for them to start walking again. "Alright," he started, pretending that he didn't even read that note,"Over here - " he was interrupted by someone, a very popular someone- "Awe, did the leprechaun finally get a friend?" He laughed, walking passed the two. Leaving Mark wanting to ask who it was, but didn't get a chance to before Jack continued what he was saying, "- is the bathroom, the other side is for the females, uhm, " they kept walking, continuing to talk, and ignore the criticism. "Right here is the library, sometimes for lunch whenever I don't want to deal with people I eat in here. As long as you work on something and don't make a mess, they don't mind. " he said, going quiet as they kept walking. He showed Mark the main parts of the school, at least for their grade. The science labs, in which he explained they hardly used. They usually did experiments inside the classroom. The auditorium, where it was dead most of the time. Another bathroom, and yeah. That was about it. "So yeah, that's the school, hopefully they'll treat you well. Let me know if they do otherwise. " they both smiled. "Also, just a warning. Again. There are groups here, the jocks, the nerds, the cheerleaders, and the nothings. The top of the chain- oh hey. Here's the cafeteria. The place where the feed us gourmet shit. " he snickered, "Anyways, the top of the chain, the jocks, will place you in one. It's bound to happen. "

"Really?" Mark looked at him, raising an eyebrow, "Why?"

"Mhm. " Jack hummed, shrugging lightly, "Who knows. "

"What group are you in?" The red hair asked, a bit curious.

Jack smiled, giving another slight snicker. "The nothings. "

Mark's POV

I stared at Jack, astonished. How? How did he smile all while saying that?

"What does that mean for you?" I asked, curious. I wonder how people even got labeled.

"It means they see me as a no good human being. Someone the world can live without, etc. " I saw his smiled falter for a second, but it was back in a heart beat.

"I hope you don't actually think yourself as a nothing. " I said, without even thinking.

It was the truth though. Jack seemed like someone who was kind, caring, obviously someone who deserved every right to live.

"It doesn't matter," That reply honestly broke my heart a little. His smile was softened, and I could tell the sadness in his eyes.

I want to be his friend.

I want to get closer to him.

I want to make sure he knows he needs to live.

"It does matter," I frowned at him, and as a reply he simply sighed.

"Okay," he said, smiling at me again.

How can he do that?

He smiles, and smiles.

At first, I thought he was a super duper happy person! Bubbly, enthusiastic.

I can't help but wonder, was it all an act?

Were we similar in the aspect of putting on an act?

We must be.

"Anyways, class is about to start, let's head to our home room," Jack said, I feel like he just wanted to get off of the subject. But I nodded anyways, and walked right beside him. I got some really weird looks.

Huh, I guess I didn't take Jack too seriously with the people. I heard whispers about my hair, I don't understand what the huge issue is?

It's hair.

"Told you. " I heard a mutter to me that happened to be Jack.

"Oh well." I smiled, and he looked at me. Why can I tell that he smiles with sadness in his eyes?

I need to find out more about him.

We got to class, and sat down in the back next together.

We talked about random stuff, I found out he's into video games. Which is awesome because I love games too!

I think me and Jack will become great friends.

Once the teacher came in, we both we quiet.

"Alright, I'd like to introduce our new student here today," she started, "I groaned internally. "Mark Fischbach, would you stand up?" I sighed quietly, and stood up.

"Hi, my name is Mark," I said simply, looking at all the eyes on me. Snickers and whispers were heard.

"Quiet everyone, alright. Take a seat Mr.Fischbach. " I didn't hesitate to sit back down.

The teacher started calling out attendance.

Naming off students I didn't really care to remember the names of, but one caught my eye.

"Seán McLoughlin?" I heard the whispers grow louder.

Hm, wonder who this was.

It surprised me when I hear, "It's Jack. "
I could feel the tension from Jack.

"Fucking weirdo. " I heard a mutter nearby.

"Sorry Seán, that's not what my paper says. You know I won't call you by Jack. " the words seemed hurtful, but the voice sounded nice. What the hell?

"Well I'm here. " Jack? Seán? Said. I'd have to talk to him about that later.
