(This was 17 weeks ago on a Saturday morning)
I went to the ANU (Australian National University) with my dad. He used to do Kendo, his stories got me interested highly that I really wanted to do it as well, and now I am.
--FLASHBACK--
After the long weekend of January. Dad took me to a practice session of the Kendo club. I got to see what they did. It was so cool, I even got to have a go at the end. Now that was fun.
--END OF FLASHBACK--
Handed in the registration form, met with some other beginner students and sensei (teacher in Japanese). There were some other new students as well.
After beginning the session, we split up the beginners and the seniors. Then training starts.
Our sensei introduced us to the basics of Kendo and the shinai.
A shinai is to represent a samurai sword. The samurai were the fist to invent such item. It was the "safe" way to train without killing anyone. The string on the shinai represents the not sharp and deadly side of the sword.
At the end, I thanked sensei for the session and went home. I just couldn't wait for the next weekend.
