Chapter 4

''Welcome to Trisha's Pet and Care Service! How may I help you?'' I greeted. It was currently 10:36AM, so I still had a little over an hour and a half before my shift ends.
''Uh, my dog. Do you babysit dogs?'' The voice asked me.
''It depends on the dog.'' I looked up, smiling but it was gone when I saw who it was. Rather, were. It was Finn and Robert.
''Are you stalking me?'' I scowled.
''No, my dog just needs help.'' Robert retorted.
''Whatever. What breed is your dog?''
''It's just a shitzu.'' He shrugged.
''We do dogsit.''
''How much?'' Finn questioned.
''$30 an hour.''
''$30 an hour?!'' Robert screamed.
I nodded. What? $30 was a bit more expensive, but Trisha's Pet and Care Service was like a five star dog shop. So far, there were no complaints against us. All of them were complimenting our service. (I dunno if $30 for dogsit is cheap or not, cause I don't dogsit! Well, we have like seven dogs at home? I'm not sure how many dogs we have. But we have LOTS of dogs at home and we don't really leave them at a dog care or anything. Get it? Day care? Dog care? No? Okay, carry on then. Sorry for my awkwardness.)
''Let's go, Finn! I only have $10 with me.'' Robert mumbled as Finn nodded.
They both waved me goodbye as I waved back.
''See you later!'' Finn cheered before opening the door and they left.
No one else came for the rest of my shift.

''Honey, are you all set?'' My mom asked me as I gave her a look.
''Yes, Mom. What I don't get is why you didn't tell me I was going there for an overnight? What about on Sunday? I have to walk with the neighbors' dogs.''
''I talked to them already. They're fine with it. I'm always one step ahead of you, Laura.'' She teased.
I gave her another look. ''Mom, that's not funny. It's only funny when I do it.''
''Do you want me to ground you?''
''Actually, yes. So I won't go to that overnight thing.''
''Oh right.'' My mom slapped her forehead. ''I'm so stupid. I'll ground you after you come home from that overnight thing.''
I laughed. ''Figured. I must've gotten my stupid genes from you.''
''Watch it.'' She narrowed her eyes at me.
''Please ground me.'' I begged. Never in my life have I imagined me begging my mom to ground me. ''I mean- I want to go with Robert and maybe Serena and Shawn, but Xander? No!''
''Who's Xander?'' She perked up at the mention of his name. I rolled my eyes.
''Just someone popular who Serena invited.'' I emphasized the word popular, which I'm sure my mom noticed because she started smirking.
''So you're popular, too? Serena invited you, didn't she?''
''Actually, Mom, you invited Serena.'' I corrected.
''I know that.'' She laughed nervously. ''I was, uh, testing you! Yeah, I was testing you. Ha, sucker.''
''Whatever you say.'' I won't believe her, it's obvious.
