Loki tried to move and grimaced. He was sore, painfully sore. Not the kind of soreness that he endured due to Banner, but the kind that would last for days. The soil beneath him and the shackles cuffed to his wrists merely added to his immense discomfort.

Valhalla, not this again. At least in Niflhiem I was moderately content! I had food! How convenient of Doom. I hope he hasn't harmed Charlotte, she doesn't deserve this...maybe I was wrong in saying I did not need her.

Well, nothing could be done about it now. He'd checked the strength of the chains hours ago, finding them both magic-resistant and unbreakable. Thankfully, he hadn't heard anything that would indicate Charlotte being mistreated. Then again, the walls surrounding the prison were soundproof.

He yanked on the chains, thinking he was completely out of options and had failed once again as the echo of steady footfalls reached his ears. He stood, chains restraining him from his full posture, and awaited his captor. Regardless if he should meet his end, he would not welcome death without a fight.

The footfalls remained ever closer until they stopped just shy of the cell doors, a tall hooded figure halted silently before him. Loki noted that this was in fact not Doom, and upon further inspection this person had an entirely different build - they also reminded him of someone, a certain someone he was once very close to.

"Well? I know you are not Doom. What is it that you want?"

The figure, clearly notable as a man, lifted his hood and smiled, leaving Loki utterly taken aback. How did he know where to find him? Did Heimdall even know about Latveria?

"Hello, brother. I cannot say I care deeply for your tone, considering I am here to release you."

Loki grinned. If Thor thought he was going to come willingly, or easily for that matter, then he has another thing coming.

A/N: Ah Loki, still haven't learned yet, have you? Anyway. This is probably the shortest chapter in the book, but it's just an intermission really. *rubs hands together deviously*
