***I make it through the flight and to the airport near my aunts home. I go through security and baggage claim and wait for my aunt Melinda to come. I have three big bags filled with clothes and two smaller ones with makeup, toiletries, and my electronics in it. What fun.
I check my phone for the time and Sarah's smiling face greets me under the time. It's four in the afternoon. Where is she.
"LINNEA. LINNY. LIN" I hear through the airport. I look around and see the smiling face of my aunt Melinda. She's only four years older than me. So she's twenty one. And lives in a gigantic apartment with her husband. Who is hella rich and is 35 years old. Wow.
She runs to me and pulls me in a hug, her dark red hair is piled into a bun and she smells like vanilla. I breath her in as we embrace and I feel tears prickle my eyes. I force them back and pull away, discreetly wiping my eyes with my left arm. We each grab luggage and meander or way to her car in the front.
It is blazing hot outside.
We get in her van and pile my luggage in before succumbing to the air conditioned interior.
We drive in silence. The only thing talking is the talk show hosts on the radio. Her apartment is 20 minutes away from the airport to the drive isn't too tedious. We make it there and meet her husband in the parking lot. He is nice and tall. With dark hair and green eyes, like me. He has an angular face and smells like expensive cologne.
We all help with out luggage and make our way to the top floor of the apartment building. It is huge.
Her husband works as a CEO in a big cooperate company that I have no idea what it does. I zoned out at that part.
So basically he's rich and can afford this penthouse in New York.
I have my own room. It's not too big but bigger than my room back home. I work on putting everything away and making it look less like my hospital room. It also has an ensuite bathroom that I put my toiletries and makeup into. I set my medication on the dresser I front of the mirror so I won't forget to take it.
I stare in the bathroom mirror at my sunken in cheeks and my too loose clothes. I've lost so much weight lately that I look skeletal.
I hear chatter coming from the dining area so I grab my phone and leave the new room.
Aunt Mel and her husband Dave are sitting at the dinner table just talking to eachother. They look so at ease with eachother. Everything with mom and dad has been tense lately.
I cough lightly and step in the room to make my presence known. They both stop talking and turn to me with light smiles on their faces.
"Come over hon, I was just about to bring dinner over" Dave says to me.I come over and take a seat adjacent to them and place my phone face down on the smooth black table. Dave leaves then comes back in with chicken while Mel has the potatoes and corn. We all fill our plates and I let Mel and Dave fill the silence with their nonstop chatter. It's relaxing not having to talk.
I manage to eat 1/2 of my plate before feeling nauseas and pushing my plate away. Mel notices and tells me that I can be excused before standing up to hug me softly. Dave pats me on the arm as I pass and I retire to my room.(I'm ball parking it on the time)
It's about eight o'clock and I'm already exhausted. I jump in the ensuite shower before changing into my pajamas and passing out on my new bed. In my new room. In my new house.
