Song: Sweater weather - The neighborhood
I sat with Dean, my arms around his shoulders, til his mother arrived. Mary was a nice lady, kind hearted, always there to help. I liked her better than my own mother, but then again, I liked a lot of people better then my own mother.
When she arrived at our house after work I explained what had happened, regretfully leaving Dean alone for a few minutes. She didn't say anything, but I knew she was worried. That night she asked me to stay with Dean while she figured out this entire mess. John wasn't supposed to be out of prison yet, let alone be near their family.
So I stayed at their house that night. Dean didn't talk much, and Sammy stayed in his room with us that night. Dean had curled up into a ball next to me, I had my arms around his shoulders, and little Sammy slipped into the room, Teddy bear in hand. I moved one of my arms and Sammy curled up in between us, hugging the stuffed animal tight.
I had never seen Dean like this, so down. He hadn't seen his father in two years and he just shows up, stirring up old traumatic memory's and feelings that he never wanted to experience again. I felt sorry for him, but didn't show it. The last thing he wanted was pity.
The next morning, I awoke before either of the brothers. Both still beside me, sleeping soundly. I wasn't sure what time it was, but it was probably considerably early. My entire sleeping schedule had been messed up recently and it was getting annoying. I yawned, deciding to stay in bed until they woke up. I lay still, eyes open, waiting for them to awake.
"Cassie?" A small voice asked after a few minutes. I looked towards the voice. It was Sammy.
"Morning Sam." I smiled. I felt the little boy sit up, leaning against me.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked, at that moment Dean let out a loud snore that made me smile.
"Of course Sammy." I nodded for him to continue.
"Uh, do you know why Dean is sad? He told me not to worry, but I don't like it when he's sad." The boy said in a small voice. I gave him a sad smile. Sam of course was too young to remember what his father had done and was clueless to the real reason why they had moved here.
"Because someone that he didn't want to see again came back and made him sad." I said solemnly. The little boy nodded his head against my shoulder.
"Yeah okay... I'm going to go get mommy, will you stay with Dean? I don't want him to be scared when he wakes up 'cause I'm not there." He asked, and I agreed, reassuring him that I'd stay just in case. His little feet clopped against floor as he ran out if the room making me laugh a little.
I sighed laying back down beside Dean. I cuddled against him, playing with his hair while he slept.
"Mornin' sunshine." He muttered, and I smiled. Ever since meeting Dean I'd been smiling a lot more than before.
"Morning De, Sam went to find your mom." I said continuing to play with his hair. He wrapped his arms around me, burying his face into my hair.
"Your hair smells good." He laughed. I grinned at him, until he said something that made me freeze.
"I love you."
Whoa there, cliffhanger. Sorry this chapter was short, it was more of a filler chapter than anything else. If you guys think anything should change or if you want anything to happen please comment your ideas, I think it'd be cool to see what your ideas are... Vote, comment, follow! 💓
