Two weeks had passed after Ella started working with Jefferson and she absolutely loved it. Jefferson was a bit shocked on how happy Ella was working with him. They would talk for hours while Ella cleaned the shelves and Jefferson would sew some more hats. More costumers entered the shop when Ella started working as well. Jefferson was more cheerful and the costumers noticed that. Before Ella came, the costumers would be too nervous to ask for hats, usually because he would always have a sour attitude. Now that he got Ella back, everything was falling into place. The only problem was that Ella still wouldn't remember her past or who Jefferson really was. And it was making him a bit impatient.
"Ella, what brought you to Storybrooke may I ask?" Jefferson asked as he watched Ella clean off the counter.
Ella glanced towards him and shrugged her shoulders.
"Fighting with my pa..my parents...You know things like that." she said.
Jefferson noticed her being uncomfortable, so he quickly tried to change the topic.
"Well, I hope you're happy now here."
"Oh, I am! I love this town Jefferson. Everyone is so friendly, it's kind of unbelievable. I bet this town has a bunch of secrets too, some that are very mysterious I imagine." she said.
"You have no idea..." he muttered under his breath.
"Hm?"
Jefferson shook his head and smiled.
"Nothing, nothing . Just talking out loud again." he laughed lightly and walked towards her to place a hat over her head and on the shelf.
"Be careful Mr. Hatter, people will think you're going mad." she gave him a cheeky smile.
"Hmm, mad you say? Well if you work here, you'd must be going mad too." he smirked and leaned closer to her.
"I suppose I must be. Well then, I guess we could be mad together ? That way things will seem normal for the both of us?" she asked looking into his bright blue eyes. He smiled and nodded his head.
"I'd like that very much." he said.
They stared at each other for a while, not realizing they were only a few centimeters apart. They only moved back from each other when they heard the door bell jingle.
"Ella, are you in here?!" said Henry loudly. He made his way inside the shop but stopped when he saw Jefferson.
"Oh, hey Mad Ha-"
"Ahem, Henry shouldn't you be in school?" said Jefferson annoyed.
"Duh, I skipped my last two classes because I wanted to find Ella!"
Ella stepped forward from behind Jefferson and waved at Henry.
"Hey, Henry! Whats going on?" she asked.
"Ella, I really really really need to talk to you." said Henry out of breath.
Ella glanced at Jefferson, who was looking at Henry with a annoyed look. She nodded at Henry, and the little boy took her hand and dragged her outside.
"Woah, Henry calm down!" she said when they were outside.
"I gotta show you something but you have to promise not to freak out! Can you do that?!"
"Yes Henry but-"
"Promise!"
Ella sighed and nodded her head.
"Alright, I promise I won't freak out Henry. Now please tell me why you just dragged me out of the hat shop."
Henry sighed and took Ella's hand again.
