I was shocked. He actually remembered his name. I walked past my friends. Faith stopped me. "Where are you going?" She questioned me. "I am going to talk to that 'man'." I tell her, and walk into Jesse's room. When I entered, Jess and Michael were talking, but once he noticed me his eyes widened, as he starts to lightly shake. Jessie glared at me. "What?" "I am here to talk to him, if that isn't a problem." I told her. She thought for about a minute, and then made up her mind. "If you hurt him, then no." "I'm not going to hurt him, I promise." I raise my hands in a surrender way, as she gets and whispers something to 'Michael' before backing out into the hall. I sat on the bed next to him, and spoke. "Look, Michael, I'm sorry for trying to kill you and scaring you. I just get over protective of our base, and when I see someone who I don't know, I go completely crazy." He gave me an understanding look, then spoke. "It's okay. I completely understand."
"How?" I ask with suspicious edged in my voice.
"I was like that too...." He trails off, while I raise my eyebrows in surprise.
"I don't remember much, but I know that I did that, when...." He squeezes his eyes shut, before clearing his throat, and looks back to me.
He was still shaking and I had no idea why, but then I realized that he was backed up to the wall, his knees drawled to chest, arms wrapped tightly around them. Again. "Are you okay, Michael?" I ask him, sitting by his side. He looks at me with his dark hazel eyes. "H-He's coming for us." I looked at him with knowing eyes. "You are safe here. I'll make sure of it." Michael smiled at me, and I smiled right back. That's when everyone decided to walk in. Jessie eyes me suspiciously, then turns to Michael. "How did it go?" She asks him. He looks at me from the corner of his eye, and answers with a "good". Jackie was shocked. "Marin didn't try to kill you? Wow." I glared at her, and she smirked knowingly. "You know, I don't go after everyone I first meet." I state. Sophie looked at me and rolled her brown eyes. "Marin, you went after me and Enrique when Jackie found and brought us....to help you." She said bluntly, stating the obvious. "Sophie that was a year ago, a few months before the apocalypse."
"Yes BEFORE, the apocalypse, and you still attacked us..." She said simply, emphasizing the 'before'. I scowled at her. "Thank god Enrique was able to stop you or I would be dead!" I just continued scowling. "I had no idea who you were, and besides, you don't know what I went through before I met you!" I shoot at her. 'Marin we have all been through horrible experiences! Remember what happened to Jackie when she was younger! Jessica has nightmares every night! Enrique has been through horrible things too! Stop thinking you're the only one!"
"We don't even know what Jess has been having nightmares about! And I know you have all been through tough times, but have you ever been abused by your ex-boyfriend?! No you haven't you have no idea what it's like-"
"THAT'S ENOUGH, JUST SHUT UP!!!" Jessica had her hands covering her ears, eyes squeezed shut, and her breathing was erratic, as she interrupted my speaking.
She then points to the door, eyes still shut. "Leave. Now"
"W-what?" Jessica stands up all of a sudden, and roughly pushes me and Soph out the door, shutting it dramatically loud. "Shut up! You're both driving me crazy, we all get it! Marin you've been abused, and guess what?! So have some of us! Sophie stop fighting with Marin, I don't know why or how, but you always manage to cause an argument, and I'm sick of it! Michael needs to be calm, he can't have you two get in a catfight, I can't have that either, so please will you just stop being so [censored]-ing childish?!?!" Me and Sophie were in a state of shock by her outburst. I just acted as if it didn't affect me at all. I use strong language all the time, so this is nothing new to me. But I still felt a sting in my heart, which irritated me to no end. "Fine, 'Mom'" I shot back, and locked my bedroom door. I am able to calm myself down a little. After unlocking my door, I quickly peek out into the hall, only to see Jess have a conflicted look plastered on her face, with Sophie still frozen in shock. I put my hand on Sophie's shoulder, shaking her out of her daze. She looks at me, and I can tell that she is about to cry.
"Soph, are you okay?" She nods her head, and slowly walks out of Jess's room and into hers, as I follow. She sits on her bed, and puts her head in her hands. I sit down next to her. "Soph, I'm sorry." I tell her softly. She looks at me, with tears running down her pale cheeks.
"I'm sorry too," She almost whispers. "It's just that, well, do you ever wonder if things are ever going to change?" She asks me. "Yes, I do, but we both know the true answer to that question." We wrap our arms around each other and pull each other into a hug. "I just wish that Jess would understand that this is how we are going to live for the rest of our lives." I whisper in her ear. She nods. "I know." After a moment of silence Sophie speaks up "But, it does give her hope, it gives us all hope, including you Marin, even though you don't really show it." Just as she finished her sentence, I had a weird feeling shoot through my body, and I sat there, my eyes wide, staring at the wall. "Marin! Are you okay?" Sophie asked, shaking my arm. I turned to her, my eyes still wide. "Something's up." I tell her, and grab Blade out of my pocket. "What do you mean?!" She asks me, her face full of fear. I don't answer, but I do tell her to grab her bow and arrows. "Marin, I'm confu-" I cut her off. "Follow me, now." I say as I bolt out her door, and into the kitchen. She follows after me, and I look out the window. A whole bunch of walkers have broken into the fence and are headed our way. I screamed for my friends, as Sophie stood there, motionless, watching the walkers get closer, closer, and closer. A few moments later, Jackie ran in, along with Jessie, Abby, Faith, and Enrique. "What's wrong?!" Jess asked, looking extremely concerned. "L-Look outside!" I screamed, as we all immediately grabbed our weapons and bolted outside. One of the walkers were right outside Shadow's dog house, which he was sleeping in. "Shadow!!!" I holler, as I stab one of the walkers in the head, viciously ripping my knife out of its skull. I rescued Shadow, got him into the RV, and ran back to where my friends were. The population of walkers was increasing very quickly, as we tried to fight them off. As my friends are using their weapons against the walkers, I see one trying to get into the house. I run up to it and stab it in the head. It drops to the ground, blood all over its shirt. I take a breath of relief, and am about to run over to my friends again, when out of nowhere, a walker tackles me. I scream, but nothing comes out. My arms and legs weaken, as I fight to get out of its grip. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see my friends still fighting against a walker, but out of the other corner of my eye, I see someone with a white knife, the same exact brand as mine, but it couldn't be mine. Mine is black, and it's in my pocket. The person with the white knife bolts into action, tackles the zombie that was on top of me, and stabs it in the forehead. I am too traumatised to even move, as the man kneels down by my side. "Marin? Are you okay?" He asks me, shaking me lightly. I look up at the man. It was Enrique. He holds his hand out to me, and I just lay there, frozen, tears streaming down my cheeks. "I-I almost died..." I quietly say to him, as he pulls me into a hug, and says "You're safe, now. Everything will be okay." I nod, take his hand, and pull myself up. I can see Jackie, Jessie, and Sophie running towards me, as Abby and Faith are fighting off the last few zombies. Enrique and I stop hugging, and my friends hug me, fear stained onto their faces. They all start blurting out questions.
"Marin, are you okay?"
"What happened?"
"Are you hurt?"
Tears started leaking out of my eyes and down my face again, as a sob escaped my lips. "Let's go back inside." Sophie advised. They stopped hugging me, and I clinged onto them again, not wanting to let go. I was terrified. "Marin, it's okay. You're safe." Jackie assured me, but I still didn't let go. They had to pry me off of themselves, and I grabbed onto Jessie's hand. "Everything's alright. No one is going to hurt you, Marin." She softly whispered. Jessie let go of my hand, as I whimpered, and sat back down on the ground. Sophie helped me up, and I leaned against her as we walked back inside with our friends. I flopped onto the couch, and Shadow bolted over to me, and licked my tear stained cheeks. I smiled at him. "Good boy." I almost whisper, before falling asleep.
