Rey was shaking me to wake up with tears streaming down her face, I sat up and hugged her "What's wrong?" she was shaking severely "The nightmares are back." she mumbled, I pushed up her chin a bit "You can tell me anything, I want to help you." I kissed her forehead and said "I don't know your past but I want to be your future." I held her trying to clam her down. She calmed down & I asked "Do you wanna talk about it?" she pulled away and nodded "When I was younger I was abused, tortured, and was horrified to do anything." I didn't know how to respond other than try to comfort her and make her feel like she was always going to be safe with me. She fell asleep still crying in my arms, I was wide awake so I decided to look at some apartments, it was 6 something in the morning so I tried to go back to bed. Unable to sleep I got up and showered, left a note for Rey that I was going to be in the hotel cafe, and snuck out. I was alone in the halls, the sound of my bare feet hitting the carpet filled the halls. I got a few breakfast burritos and frothy coffee for Rey & I, on the way back to our room I decided to take the stairs back up. When I came back in Rey was still asleep so I set our food and coffee down on the table and pulled out my drawing book and a pencil from my bag. I sat on my knees next to the bed, I hadn't drawn in a long time, but when the pencil touched the paper I easily drew her beautiful face. When I finished I set the book on the bedside table. I kept looking at the apartments that we could rent, one was very appealing but I needed to wait for Rey to actually see it in real life, the bonus was it came furnished and had 2 bedrooms. I started looking at possible jobs in the area, they were all desk jobs that i wasn't fit for, until I saw that a local comic book store was hiring. I immediately filled out a form and hoped for the best. I saw Rey waking up and walked over to her softly kissing her lips "Good morning queen." I said putting her hair behind her ear, she smiled still half asleep, her eyes closed. She rubbed her eyes and sat up "I'm excited for us getting our own place." she mumbled getting up and hugging me, I smiled pulling out my phone "There's a perfect apartment for us, two bedrooms, and pre-furnished." I showed her the photos and the location. "I like it, we should see it irl." I nodded & made an appointment for us to see it, I put my phone down and handed her the coffee "I'm trying to get a job at the local comic book store close to that apartment by the way." she nodded and sipped her coffee. "Gerard, can I tell you something?" she sat down, I sat on the floor in front of her "Yes anything, I want to help you." she smiled a bit "I was abused physically, mentally, and...sexually. And I haven't felt safe till now, the only thing is the nightmares." I didn't know how to respond so I just nodded and kissed her fore head. I had an idea, I was going to make her present and future perfect "What's something you really, really, really want?" she looked at me "I want a dog, I've always wanted a dog." I smiled "Well we're gunna become dog parents as soon as you find one you like." she jumped up and smiled "Oh my god really?! You'll do that for me?" I nodded and she hugged me smiling from ear to ear. "We're going to the pound when we get a chance." she said kissing my cheek.
