Laura.
Forget everything you know about the whole "opposites attract" logic It's all false.
Life is not a magnet . It's sadly, how we see things. You bond over similarities in a relationship. Like music or literature. It may be different because as humans we have preferences. We also have visions on what our future may hold. We like to solve, put things together. A blonde and brunette look cute together because it's different from the same.
The contrast just looks rather attractive. People are drawn to it because without the different genetics people would be clone like. Dull. Lifeless. People change because they want to do something different with themselves. People change to be like others in some ways. Acceptance is key. People say it's okay to be different, but too different is strange.
''Now, now, Laura what's the point?"
We get different is cool, but now your tell us we are all the same?We all bleed red. We all die.We all live. Some longer, some shorter that's the only difference. Society is based on looks, and appealing attributes about anything really. What we see comes from the light.
Colors are reflection of light. Cast light through a prism and add water to the mix, you'll make a rainbow. The more water you add the bigger of rainbow. What is more? Something added to thing that was already great before? These sound like adolescent problems I had when I didn't have to worry about stupid things. I mean I worried even when I had no purpose. I wish I was colored blind. But then again life wouldn't be different despite the different shades of whites, blacks and greys. The Giver thought me that sameness hides things. Beautiful things such as colors. In the dystopian society the Giver presents Everyone sees grey, they don't know what love is. They don't feel. Ever night the family unit would share ''their feelings and dreams.'' The main character Jonas discovers to see, receive memories of a past time that was real. Where people actually felt things and lived.
People want truth , but they don't give it up too easily. They hide so there is no judgement until the truth finally comes out. Don't judge a book by it's cover. I hate this because people still do it. If a person sees a old worn book they hold it carefully . Also if a book is labeled new people read it up before it's old and forgotten. A book covered in dust. Most likely boring. Last check out 1998 . It's as old as me. It wasn't touched in forever and what I found was the most incredible book that would make you sit and cry all while contemplating.life.
People walk by opportunities all the time. As for I hold the thick dusty book on a coffee dining table swirling my black coffee around. Color blind people see clouds just like everyone else because it's either white or grey. I can't help, but wonder they haven't seen color. Some are born with it. And yet clouds are the same. What if every book cover was the same? Would it affect the appeal? I never really was attracted to a cover intensely. Like eyes. They create tears but you can't see them form until they rise. A smile could brighten a room. Yet people don't smile. You could see feelings in eyes than any other facial feature. The eyes see the half empty pessimist ,but they also see the half full optimistic side to things as well. What would you say based on what you saw? A glass. That has water in it. It doesn't have contain water at all. There are different answers for different things. We don't have have to solve it, but we feel like we need to find it.
We might not have forever in life so why do we waste time on judging books like we do people?
You don't know until it's over and the final page is turned and the book is shut, but you're still stuck on the cover."Laura? Can you take my shift for like five minutes?" Connor asked me as I stare at the care table.
'"Uh sure."
'Thanks.
The front door bell open and a familiar looking, bright eyed, guy walked through the door..
If this isn't going to be awkward thank you Jesus."Marano?" Finally got a real job here?
Lynch chuckled."Oh what I never told you my last name."
"Neither did I, but I guess some secrets are meant to be told." Lynch shuffles, his feet side to side.
"Secrets being told are like spoilers.ruins the whole story." I roll my eyes. "What can I get you?" 2 sugar and one 1 creme baby cakes?" I look up mirroring his quizzical look.
"Baby cakes?" I feel violated. " Lynch cringes.
"Hey, hey, don't judge me and my pet names."
."I just want straight black coffee ." Lynch sighs.Bitter sweet black coffee... chills.
Uh- sure. I say.
"Hey, I apologize for other day, Laura can I call you by you're first name?"
"I don't know can you?" I chuckle.
"I just wanted to know some things." Lynch nods as the coffee brews.
"Well, " I say I pour the glass of coffee.
"You know my name, not my story and my opinion on things of what you may do is like a book and it's cover. The only thing that is important is the story the book is holding on the inside. Much like this small talk the cover is not consisting of the greatest importance. It is your choice to read.
