Sirius POV:
After our awkward conversation about Hogwarts houses, everyone fell into uncomfortable silence. This smothered us like a blanket until I decided it was time to put on my robes.
"Well, everyone, I believe that we should get dressed now!" I looked over and saw Evelina standing wearing a bright smile as she leaped from her seat and dug into her trunk for her new clothes. I chuckled quietly, enjoying her childish glee. James and I also stood, although far more slowly due to our complete laziness, and grabbed our robes. Lily looked at Severus in confusion and he just whispered something to her quietly. Based on her "epiphany" look I assume his answer was satisfactory. Together, James, Evelina, and I walked to the bathrooms to change. Evelina waited for Lily and together they walked off to the girls bathroom while talking about conditioner or something. Based on the lusciousness of Lily's curls I felt a pang of jealousy. Said feeling went away quickly as James tugged my sleeve and we also went to change. We just met but I had already made one of the best friends I've ever had. If only we could stay this way... I shook the morbid thought out of my head. The two of us swiftly put on our new robes and I looked at James. As I glanced over I noticed something was off but couldn't put my finger on it. Once we got out I turned around to see James waiting for Evelina. I guess she was kind of pretty, she was really average looking and kind of small. Lily was beautiful but I refused to even think about her because it was obvious James was quickly developing a small crush on her.
It was weird to see James in robes, they fit but made him look too sophisticated. I immediately saw the problem, he had smoothed down his hair! I walked over and ruffled it up for him, earning me a light slap to the hand. I had thrown my robes on without a care, making them a bit disheveled on purpose. Hey, I know what the ladies want. Just then, Evelina walked out of the bathroom with Lily. Their robes fit them but made Evelina appear even smaller than she already was, like an abandoned kitten looking for a home. Lily stopped to wait for Severus and James, Evelina, and I walked back to our compartment. James and Evelina started to complain about the stupidity of robes while I fell into deep thought about Severus. He was acting like a nasty little git towards James, Evelina, and I whenever we started talking to Lily. It was pretty obvious he liked Lily but she seems to have no clue. That meant that I made to take Severus out of the picture in order to make Lily like James. I was yanked out of my thinking by Evelina who had landed a solid punch to my arm.
"Youch woman! What was that for?" She giggled a bit at me and simply gestured towards our carriage.
"Well, you see, the carriage is open and we must get into it. Keep your head out the clouds, doofus." I mocked being stabbed in the heart by her words as I took a seat next to James. Evelina seems like a great friend, I was jealous of James for always knowing her. After a few seconds I felt someone's gaze on me. Looking up my eyes connected with Evelina's for just a second and she looked away, her cheeks slightly red. The only thing that concerned me was the furrowed brows and grim set of her lips before she could change her expression. She seemed worried about something, or perhaps doubtful. Did she know about my family...? I've heard of the Potters before, they're pure bloods like me yet they are accepting of muggles and muggleborns. Every pure blood family knows of the blood traitors, did they know of us? My mouth suddenly went very dry at the thought of Evelina hating me, for some reason the thought of such an occurrence is painful.
