#7) Go on a roller coaster with someone
Admittedly I felt way lighter for the next few days. Like some invisible weight was suddenly lifted off my shoulders. Even Tate's sullen mood couldn't wipe off the smile on my face.
'Can't we just go on something thats, I don't know, safer?'
I sighed as I let the candy floss melt in my mouth blissfully, 'If I knew then that you would do nothing but wet your pants at the sight of a roller coaster, I wouldn't have permitted you to tag along.'
Tate glared at me and ripped the candy floss out of my hands, shredded it, then proceeded to place them in his mouth. 'For your information, my pants are dry. Wanna cope a feel?'
'You know, I was thinking-'
'Shocker,'
'Zip it. Anyway, I was thinking, is there anything you don't take in a dirty way?'
He placed his index finger on his chin and tapped it thoughtfully. Once, twice, thrice, then finally with a shurg he said, 'Nope.'
'Yeah. I've noticed.'
We were at the amusement park. There were people of every age at every place; taking photographs, waiting for their turns at stalls, clutching hands. Everyone had prominent smiles on their faces. On a normal day I would cringe at their happiness but right now, I couldn't help but join them.
There was just something about the aura this place was emitting. My guess is that this park has an invisible barrier of happiness and once you stepped in, all your worries and problems would seem to be much smaller than they actually were.
I glanced at the roller coaster and then zoned back to the gloomy boy that stood alongside me. 'We already tried all the other rides,' I resumed to whine annoyingly, 'and besides, you said that you wanted to help.'
The guilt trip probably worked better than I thought it would because the next thing I knew, Tate was pulling me towards the roller coaster as an arrogant smirk fitted itself on my lips. We reached the stall, handed over our tickets and settled ourselves on the seats. I've been on these rides before so I wasn't really anxious compared to the person next to me. Albeit, they weren't as high as this one but they weren't exactly for twelve year olds either.
The man who collected our tickets appeared and checked if everyone was properly secure. I snuck a glance at Tate and noticed that he turned paler than he usually was. Nudging him on the side and leaning towards his ear I whispered, 'Everythings going to be alright. Just try to enjoy this.' He nodded firmly.
Tate didn't really know what he was getting into when he said that he wanted to help. I should've told him, or at least showed him the list but I was too excited at having someone to complete this with that I didn't notice and now, there was an undeniable ball of guilt bubbling inside me.
The machine rumbled and we were slowly propelling forward. The people sitting behind us hooted loudly. When we were nearing the drop I felt Tate's hand incase mine tightly. Tingles ran down my spine at the contact.
And suddenly, my stomach dropped along with the rest of me. We were going fast, the shouts were deafening and I unknowingly joined them. Cutting through the wind as my hair flew in every direction, I noticed that my eyes were shut and I slowly peeled them open to check on Tate. Like everybody else, he was yelling his heart out. But I could tell that he was enjoying. He held our hands above us and continued hooting.
