#9) Read the Harry Potter series
When I first told Tate that we had to go looking for the Harry Potter series, he came to a complete halt and grabbed me by the shoulders. 'What do you mean you haven't read Harry Potter before?'
'Do you not understand English?'
'Stop answering my questions with questions. How come you've never read Harry Potter before? Is that even possible? To not to read Harry Potter?'
All in all, I thought that he was being too melodramatic for his own good. I made fun of him for taking his J. K. Rowling too seriously. I didn't know then that I would follow in his footsteps. If not, ten times more worse.
It was difficult to put down the books. They were simply too enticing. I kept promising myself that each chapter would be the last. (I obviously broke all those promises though). The Philosophers stone, Chamber of secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of fire were all done within two days. I departed from the wizard world only when I felt too sleepy to continue or when I had to go down to eat.
It was nine in the morning when my phone blasted out my ringtone and I felt all around my table for the device. When I didn't find it, I sat up and looked for it then groaned when I realized it was right next to me.
'Hello?' I rasped sleepily while rubbing my eyes.
'Wena?' Said Tate from the other end of the line and my hand froze.
If life was fair and dandy, then I would have a completely sexy morning voice that Tate would totally be swooning over. But alas, life doesn't go that way and I'm stuck with a morning voice that strongly resembled Master Shifu from Kung fu panda.
I hastily cleared my throat before I replied.
'Yeah it's me.'
I mentally face palmed. What a lame answer. It's my freaking phone, obviously it's going to be me! Real smooth Ruwena.
'Did I wake you up?'
'No! No! Not at all! I was alr-'
'I definitely woke you up.' He said with a soft chuckle.
'Alright. You got me. Congratulations.' I roll my eyes even though I know he can't see them. 'Did you call only to annoy me?'
'Nope. I do that all the time already so I decided to try a different approach. Are you free today?'
Yes. Completely. And even if I wasn't free, I would cancel everything I had.
'Not really.' I lied, slightly wincing at how false I sounded even to my own ears.
'By "not really",' he repeated in a tone tha was supposed to sound like mine, 'What exactly do you mean?'
'Umm,' I hesitated. 'I meant that I have to complete reading the fifth book?'
'Are you serious?' He deadpanned. 'It hasn't even been a week since you had the series in your hands and you already finished the first four? Woman, do you even sleep?'
'I would've still been asleep if it weren't for you.'
'You're welcome. Anyway, you're basically free today-'
