"FUCK!" Sam screamed. The iron bars clacked louder as Sam tried to pry the bars with his hands. His hands kept slipping from the cold smooth bars.

"That's not helping anything Sam..." Elijah murmured quietly as he lay against the concrete wall.

"You Prick bastard! Face me!" Sam yelled toward the stairs, continuously making the bars ring without progress. Sam's attempts lasted another two minutes before someone stood next to him.

"Sam! Calm down." Elijah quickly stood to face Sam. Sam instantly stopped banging on the bars and turned to face Elijah. Both were close enough to smell each other's breath.

"I don't see you making any solutions," Sam narrowed his eye brows. Kyle leaned against the iron bars in front of Sam and Elijah, his face in his hands.

"Well, the worst thing you can do now is make a ruckus down here. Bill would probably come down here flattered," Elijah remarked putting his hands up sarcastically.

"Let him come then," I need answers Sam gritted.

A rough voice came from the dark corner, "why dont both of you shut up so Kendra can sleep?" It was phil's voice that overpowered the cell. Kendra was leaning on Phil's broad shoulder, with her eyes scrunched closed.

Sam almost ignored the comment looking around the cage. His eyes wandered to Kyle.

"And you, this is all your fault," he pointed at Kyle with his face still in his hands. "We're in here because you couldn't move your feet and listen," Sam said flustered tapping his own head rapidly for a second.

"How did you guys get caught?" Elijah blurted while looking at Kyle.

"Oh well, of course, Kyle wouldn't know someone threatening him if it hit him straight in the head." Sam chewed on his bottom lip.

"... So are you guys brothers?" Elijah asked pointing between the two.

Sam walked up to Elijah almost looking dangerous but stopped a few inches from him. "If i was related to him, I'd blow my head off," Sam gritted his teeth, blood still stained his whole back.

A soft faint cry between the conversation became noticeable. All eyes went to Kyle as he leaned on the bars.

"Sam..." Kyle muttered. "I know I did a bad okay."

"You know what, I'm done. You dont get to have a hamster anymore." Sam remarked putting one white knuckled hand on a bar.

Kyle remembered the hamster he saw through the store's glass. It's furry black hair looked so soft. Kyle begged Sam for it, but of course money was the issue.

Kyle let go of his face and looked up at Sam. His eyes watered with hot tears. He sniffled and looked Sam in his hard eyes that turned soft. "But Sam... You promised." He whimpered as his face hit his bent knees.

Sam feeling a little guilty, knelt next to the small broken figure. His eyebrows raised to see Kyle's tears drop on his cheeks.

"Look, I didn't mean it okay Kyle? I just get a little mad and can't help but to blame someone..." Sam said putting his hand on Kyle's wavy brown hair. Sam hated making this adorable thing produce tears.

"Sam I wanna pet that hamster," Kyle said with his face buried in his knees.

"You can have it, you just promise me that you won't do anything else stupid... Okay?" Sam said empathetically.

"I wont! I wont! Sam I promise!" Kyle said sniffling one last time and wiped his tears away. Sam hung his hands on Kyle's shoulder, giving a little grin.

"Alright, thank you Kyle." Sam said getting back up.

Sam looked at the concrete wall, that Elijah sat against along with Kendra and Phil.

A loud slam came from the other side of the room. Someone was coming down the stairs.

The thudding got louder and louder as the figure's shadow was visible from the opposing wall.

Their eyes shot open as the figure approached the bottom of the steps. The waitress's long fingers were against the shelf that sat across the stairs. She looked straight at the cage with a bag in her hands.

"Food's here," she said casually walking toward the cell. She still wore her white apron, appearance of a maid. This time her hair was knotted into a pony tail. Her heels clacked approaching the teens, she looked at Sam who was the only one standing.

Sam got as close as he could to the bars to look at the lady. "Well! Hello there!" Sam said in a agitated sarcastic way.

"Glad to meet you Sam," she said easily sensing the joke.

"Trust me, the pleasure is all yours." Sam remarked. The lady's name tag glared the name Cindy. She put her bag on the ground and reached for something. She pulled out a box full of trail-mix. She looked at the box and then at the dense bars.

"Looks like you can't fit that whole box through the bars..." Sam said with both hands near the door. "Maybe you should open the door and hand it to me."

The waitress wasn't nearly dumb enough to fall for it.

"Sam I'm hungry," Kyle's eyes looked up at Sam.

"Once she opens the door we'll have our food," Sam said looking down at Kyle but smirking at the waitress.

She quickly looked at the box and ripped it open with her sharp, black painted nails. She opened the box wide and let the mix of nuts and raisins scattered through the bars.

"You got to be kidding me..." Phil muttered as Kyle quickly scanned the floor for close food to eat.

"Eat it or you starve smart ass," Cindy said walking toward the stairs. Her heels clacked away as the teens scavenged the floor for bits of food.

--------

Midnight, Phil's watch beeped. One pair of eyes fluttered from the small beep. Her eyelashes squinted open, her hand felt Phil's chest that slowly inhaled and exhaled. Kendra scanned the cage for any movement. The only one who lied awake was Kyle's. He seemed to be mumbling to himself.

Kendra raised herself from Phil's touch and moved toward Kyle. He jumped from the sudden appearance of someone awake.

"It's okay Kyle, you can't sleep?" She said beginning to sit next to him.

"No... But I'm really glad that Sam isn't mad at me now," he said nervously. He put his hands in his lap and looked forward at the cement wall. Kendra leaned in front of his view.

"Are you afraid of me or something?" Kendra almost smiled.

"Uh, no of course not," Kyle stammered. "You're very pretty though."

Red flushed to Kendra's cheeks as she tilted her head down. She flicked her hair behind her ear and looked at Kyle.

"Thanks, I really don't hear that a lot," she said itching her leg. "So, is Sam always mean to you or something?"

Kyle looked at her like she was crazy, "No, he just gets frustrated. He takes care of me since my aunt went up."

"... Up?" She said trying to figure out the meaning.

"Sam said she went on a permanent vacation and she wasn't coming back... I asked him where and he just tells me up in the sky." Kyle shifted his small feet.

"Oh," she said feeling stupid. "Do you like being with Sam?"

"I LOVE being with him, I wish he was my real brother," Kyle looked up as if he were imagining. Both of their gazes glared at the movement Phil made.

"I better go back to him haha," Kendra said crawling on her knees to him. She laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes.

Kyle looked at Sam, "goodnight brother." They all were asleep in minutes... A darker day awaited them.
