The words came out of Sam's mouth clear, Bill breathed heavy behind the trigger.

Elijah and Kyle still hid behind Phil, as Phil held the darts to Cindy's neck.

"Sam what are you doing?! Did Bill drug him or something!" Elijah shouted from behind Phil.

Sam still stared at Phil's glaring eyes, "No I'm awake Elijah." Kyle shook as the words came out of Sam's flat voice. Cries came out of Cindy's throat louder.

Bill stared through the shotguns sight and put his finger on the trigger.

Phil kept Cindy in front of himself like a shield, "hope you don't have a customer up there to hear you gun us do-"

A roar came from the gun, smoke blasted out of the barrel. Sam immediately grabbed his ear and fell to the ground as the guns thunder echoed through his ears. The slug ripped into Cindy's collarbone and forced Phil to back into Elijah. Phil let go of his shield and she fell to the concrete.

Kyle was already on the ground crying, gasping for air. "Sam why!" Kyle's voice wavered as he looked at Sam dully.

Phil's arm was smeared with Cindy's blood, he tried wiping it off but it only spread. He gripped the darts and rag, looking at Sam. Sam stared back as Cindy bled out into the dry cement.

Bill pumped his shotgun with one hand, "the store has been closed since a few nights ago Phillip. No one is going to find ya'll." Bill shoved Sam over to Phil. Phil clenched the darts tighter.

Sam walked past Phil and over to Kyle. Kyle backed away from Sam as he approached. "Sam... I missed you." Kyle wiped his tears from his cheek and looked up at Sam.

"I had to Kyle... forgive me," Sam got closer to Kyle and hugged him. Kyle mushed his face into Sam's chest.

Bill still gripped Kendra with his other hand, "I'm going to need those keys Kyle." Kyle let go of Sam and grabbed his pocket, pulling out the keys. Sam grabbed them from Kyle and threw them towards the stairs behind Bill. "Alright, back in the cage," Bill lifted Kendra's limp body with one arm.

Elijah and Kyle approached the cage, Sam followed. Sam moved his feet slowly as he could hear Bill dragging Kendra his way. In an instant, pain shot from behind Sam. The sharp pain dug into his body like teeth.

"Phil! No!" Kyle screamed putting his hands over his mouth. Elijah turned his head to see Phil behind Sam. The pointed ends swallowed into Sam's skin. Phil held the two darts above Sam's hip until the darts seeped all the way in.

Sam escaped a yell from his throat, quickly muffled by Phil's hand. Phil put his mouth to Sam's ear and whispered.

"You were hoping that bullet hit me, I could tell in your eyes Sam." Phil pushed the daggers harder into Sam as he heard Bill rush behind him. "I think I know why Bill is doing all of this, trust me, we're better off here."

Sam was released from the muffled hand, Bill shoved Phil into the cage bars next to Elijah and Kyle. Sam crumpled to the ground holding his wound with his hand.

Bill pushed Kendra from his grip onto the floor next to Phil's feet, "drop those darts, I knew the tranq gun was a bad idea to begin with." Phil dropped the bloody darts and gave a glare at Bill.

"Now my son, Ed,should be here soon... I want ya'll on your best behavior, Got it?" Bill gripped the shotgun in his hand as the teens nodded. "I'll go grab Sam some first aid, get in the cage and let me lock it."

Phil picked Kendra up with her legs under his arms and followed Elijah and Kyle into the cell. Bill clicked the lock shut and picked up the bloody darts.

"I'll be back with the first aid Samuel." Bill held the shotgun and darts in one hand while he picked up the keys near the stairs.

As soon as Bill left the basement, Kyle balled his fist and walked toward Phil. He flew his arms out of rage at Phil's chest. "Sam is hubrt because of you!" Phil backed into the bars as Kyle kept using his arms to hit Phil.

Phil grabbed Kyle's hands and pushed him back. "Enough Kyle!" Phil seemed to tower over Kyle. Elijah looked between the two blankly.

Kyle ran right back into Phil's reach and pounded his chest with more fists while Phil stood there. Phil quickly grabbed Kyle's neck while he was in half swing and forced him to levitate. Tears ran out of Kyle's eyes as Phil tightened his fist around his lean neck. Elijah froze, tempted to break them up.

"Phil!" the higher voice came from the ground. Kendra was on her palm and knees looking up at them.

His grip loosened as he dropped Kyle to the ground, and backed into the bars. Kyle struggled for air, and crawled to the nearest corner with Sam's dead hand.

The upstairs door latched open and then shut, a hum came from outside the basement before Bill closed the door. He quickly sanitized Sam's wound as he laid unconscious and wrapped a bandage around it.

"Better hope you didn't hit anything important, that's the best I can do," Bill unlocked the cell and set Sam on the concrete gently. Kyle, by instinct, ran to his side and cuddled next to him. Kendra gazed at Sam, tempted to do the same. Bill locked the cell and hurried up the steps.

"What happened to Sam..." Kendra looked at Phil's blood splattered face.

A long pause came between the two. "Bill found the darts... and stabbed him with them," Phil stared at Kendra. She turned her head to Sam and Kyle fighting back the tears. Phil looked over at Elijah who was knelt against the wall. He clenched his jaw and worded "don't tell her". Elijah blinked away from Phil and stared at Sam and Kyle.

Bill replaced his bandage over his eye, and threw away the blood stained one. He walked to the front of the diner with a glass of ice water in his hand.

He changed his clothes, he wore black sweat pants and a white wife beater that was splotched with coffee stains. He sat behind the register and let out a sigh taking another sip of his water.

The generator's hum from the back of the diner flowed through his ears. He turned around in his chair and reached for the radio. He flipped the power button  on and off, only static came through.

He got up from his chair and walked to the diner door. He glanced his eyes over the clear windows. He noticed a red smudge over one of them.

He walked over, pounding his bare feet on the cold tiles. He couldn't make out what the smudge was, so he got closer, leaning over one of the booths.

He put his hand on his scruffy chin and read the word help, written in someone's blood. Bill itched his chin with one of his hairy fingers. "Eddy... Please be okay."
