Bill ran upstairs and back down to the cage. He gave the slightly dehydrated teens a bucket of water. Kyle ran to Sam like a dog licked a wounded owners face. Kendra immediately observed the nub that laid Sam's new, shortened arm. He winced in pain as she gripped it.

"Don't worry, I cauterized the end." Bill proudly spoke.

"Fuck you..." Sam grumbled with his head against Kendra's lap.

Kyle couldn't keep the smile off his face. The thought of being with Sam gave him pleasure. "Sam look!" He raised Sam's old hand. "I got your hand haha." He waved his hand in a hello movement at Sam.

Sam opened his mouth to respond but the pain made him wince.

Elijah sat behind Sam and had just got done slurping a swig of water from the tin bucket. "Put that down, your'e going to get sick or something."

"No." Kyle said still smiling messing with the hand. The teens had almost forgotten Bill was still standing there.

"I need a volunteer before I pick randomly... This goes like picking a card. Once you picked a card, you cant pick it again. That leaves Sam out of the question." He said observing their expressions.

"Why don't you cut off your own damn hand." All heads moved to the corner of the cage. Their mouths opened wide as they stared at their savior.

"Well well, Phillip." Bill curved his grin into a smirk and pulled his tranquilizer from its holster. "At least their's only one brave soul left that can actually fight."

"Shut the hell up, lets get this over with," Phil said taking off his shirt exposing his smooth muscular body.
He looked down to see tears forming in Kendra's eyes. He tried to look away to avoid showing his own weakness.

Bill waited with one hand on his hip, "are we all good with this decision?"
Bill tapped his feet as if he were in a hurry.

Kendra's cries filled the room all eyes on her. "No I'm not okay with it." She stayed on the ground putting her face into her knees.

Phil leaned down to her level and stroked her long brown hair. "I'll be back okay? It's just a hand," he whispered to her. Bill tapped his feet faster on the stone floor.

"No! Please baby, I can't let this happen to you." She cried putting her hand on his arm. Phil moved his hand to wipe away the falling tears. She put her other hand on his neck and pouted. Sam groaned in pain behind their whispers.

"Are you volunteering yourself Kendra?" Bill almost looking sympathetic.

Her tears rolled down her cheek and she let out a cry. "Yes."

Phil dropped his jaw and looked up at Bill, "I already volunteered Bill, just, lets hurry up and go."

Bill looked Phil in his grey eye and bit his lip and looked back down at Kendra. "No," he said.

Kendra kept her sob at bay while Phil put his hands over his forehead.
"This calls for a coin toss," Bill said excited.

"What a fucking man-child..." Sam murmured as Kyle sat next to his sprawled out body. Kyle instantly laughed.

"Im glad you're back Sam," Kyle said hugging Sam. Sam let out a blush but couldn't find the strength to resist the hug.

Bill's sighed, "Sam do I really need to pick you again?" His face burned hot.

Sam shuddered in pain and chuckled, "proceed with the coin toss Billy." Bill ignored his comment and reached for his pocket. Loose change fumbled in his pocket and a copper penny lifted from his hand.

"Heads or tails Phil."

"Ta-"

A voice from the far corner broke off Phil's voice. "Wait Phil," everyone looked over to see Elijah move his hand into a halting position.

"What?" Phil arranged his eyebrows. Kendra suppressed her sobbing to look at him.

Elijah played with his fingers for a second. "I've read that, there's a 70% chance coin tosses result in heads." Phil stared blankly at Elijah and Bill raised an eyebrow.

Phil shook his head a little, and looked up at Bill who started to crack a smile. "Heads..."

Kendra looked at Bill with red swollen eyes. Her eyes said please, as if she had a choice. Phil glared at Elijah and back at the coin waiting for the flip.

"I wanna see your hand when you toss it," Phil said moving to the bars. Sam tried getting up to watch the one turn game but Kyle quickly pressed him with another hug.

"Kyle, ugh get off me," he tried shaking the weight that latched to him.

Bill moved close to the bars near Phil. He put the coin on his thumb and sent it flying.

The coin went a few feet in the air. Time seemed to slow as all eyes followed the rotating coin.

Its shining coat of copper made the room seem to find its focal point. Kyle kept his head on Sam's chest as Sam tried leaning his head up.

Elijah moved his hands from his mouth and wavered in his feet. Kendra was still sitting with her knees against her body, her eyes watered.

Phil bit his lip and focused all attention on the penny. He imagined forcing the penny into flipping heads using his mind. All he wanted was for his love to be safe.
