Kyle rotated the hand that lay in his palm observing its features. His eyes didn't blink and he bit the corner of his lip. "This looks like Sam's hand." He said still starring.
Kendra shook her head side to side, "no it can't be Kyle, I don't think it is."
"Obviousl!-" Kendra bolted her eyes to Elijah clenching her jaw at him. "Uh... Obviously it's fake, he's just trying to spook us Kyle." Elijah raised his eyebrows at Kyle.
"You really think so?" Kyle stammered still holding the hand just above the cut.
"Of course... Don't worry okay?" Kendra said attempting a smile.
Kyle looked over with his eyes down. "Well... What are we supposed to eat?" He inspected the hand and looked at Kendra.
"I don't think we're getting anything until tomorrow honey," Kendra said shifting her eyes from Phil to Kyle.
Kyle's face curved into a frown, and squinted his eyes at the hand. He threw the bloody hand against the cement wall. "This is Sam's fault! If it wasn't for him we would have food right now," Kyle said raising his voice.
Kendra stared at him blankly and back at the hand that laid on the ground.
"Kyle give me the toothbrush, we need another shank." Elijah said holding out his hand to Kyle.
Kyle scrunched his face in anger, "what if we get in trouble again! I want Sam back! I wish Bill just took you Elijah!" Kyle stared dead at Elijah.
Elijah got up and towered over Kyle's sitting figure. "I want that toothbrush right now, Bill never comes down here at night. Ill just hide it when it's made."
Kyle looked up at Elijah and clenched his pocket. "No!"
"Kyle I want to get us out of here," Elijah impatiently held out his hand.
"He's right Kyle." Kyle shifted his head back to Kendra. "We need another chance, instead of attacking Bill we could attempt at picking the lock."
"Listen to her, now hand it over," Elijah reached his hand towards Kyle's pocket.
"I don't want a shank! I want Sam back." Kyle said still protecting his pocket. Elijah looked at Kyle another second before sighing and slouching back down.
Kendra put her hand against her forehead and her vision went back to Phil.

*Beep
Everyone was asleep, Phil's watch went off signifying midnight. A whole day had gone by. Stale cracker crumbs that Bill fed the teens scattered the floor from the night before.
One figure arose from the cage. His short black hair rose as his single strand that hung down went over his eye. He observed Kyle laying against the bars and the couple wrapped around each other.
He inched his way toward Kyle's dormant body. Barely breathing, he slid right in front of him.
Kyle had Sam's hand clenched in his grasp, almost clutching it like a baby. His soft breaths came from his throat and a hand went towards his pocket.
Fingers wrapped into the pocket feeling the smooth plastic. Sweat dripped from the figure's forehead.
The hand quickly grasped the toothbrush and pulled it out. Kyle's eyes shot open to see Elijah's body over him.
Kyle immediately screamed, waking up the rest of the cell. "Give me it back!" Kyle said starting to form tears in his eyes.
"Kyle, we need this to get out of here," Elijah said with the gleaming plastic in his hand. Kyle got up and looked up at Elijah and back at the couple. Kendra and Phil gave Kyle a blank expression.
"Guys tell him to give it back..." Kyle said still clutching the hand. His hot tears melted down his cheek as he looked back at Elijah.
"Kyle I'm going to start shaping this, just go back to sleep okay," he said turning towards the rigid bar.
Kyle quickly pounded on his back with his free hand. Elijah ignored the fist and started forging the shank. The scraping started to unsettle the room.
"I know this hand is Sam's!"Kyle cried out over the scraping.
"No it-"
Kyle cut Kendra off, "I know he's dead just stop saying I'm stupid!"
The door slammed upstairs, the scraping immediately stopped and Elijah hid the brush. The thudding never started.
"You guys quit screaming down there! Ill give you something to cry about," Bill's tired voice came echoing toward the cage.
"Is Sam dead?!" Kyle slammed his hand into the bar.
The voice from the stairs stayed quiet but the door didn't shut.
"Now he's going to come down here!" Elijah yelled at Kyle.
"I dong care, I want Sam." Kyle said with one hand in Sam's and the other on the bar. Elijah gave an agitated sigh and focused on the noise upstairs.
The thudding started coming down the stairs quickly. Phil and Kendra stood up next to Kyle.
"You want you're brother?!" The deep voice cracked into the basement. The thudding continued and the shadow appeared.
"Yes! Please!" Kyle dripped his tears on Sam's hand.
The shadow got closer until it was at the bottom of the stairs.
Bill's feet appeared first and then his body along with one over his shoulder. The blood stained shirt slung over Bill's shoulder that contained Sam.
"Sam!" Kyle shouted slamming his hands against the bars over and over.
Bill moved to the cell and stopped jangling the shiny key from his pocket. The door latched open with the creaking rust noise. Everyone stood still as Sam's body was thrown on the concrete floor at Kyle's feet.
The body groaned, one hand on the concrete, the other in Kyle's hand.
"I need another volunteer," The deep voice croaked.
